My HUGE 2 hour look at the happy hardcore played at Helter Skelter in 1995! I honestly didn't think I'd enjoy mixing this as 95 was not my favourite year at all but when I went through my tracklists and then my records I realised I'd subconsciously bought pretty much everything played in 95 at Skelter!

I had so much fun mixing this, what a special time where the breakbeats faded away and the kickdrum became stronger and more prominent and the basslines became stabs and claps with huge influences from European music. You'll either love or hate this style but I'd like to think I chose the right tunes, all tracks played at Skelter! I hope you enjoy listening...

My final look at the mighty Technodrome at Helter Skelter with a massive delve into the various hardcore techno styles played in 1995!

95 was the year of BOUNCY techno and gabber so I've tried to encorporate some of my favourite bouncy tunes played at Skelter during this time, huge shout to Scorpio, Brisk, Druid, Lomas and The DJ Producer for the inspiration.

My journey into the legendary legacy of Helter Skelter continues with the biggest year for drum & bass so far, 1998! This was the year of Bambaata, Turbulence, Alien Girl and many more instant classics, all contained in this mix! I was 16 and buying a LOT of D&B records, I got my first proper gig in 98 and played tunes in this mix, 22 years later I still love em!

All tunes played at Helter Skelter, all vinyl mixed live in one take!

A mix celebrating the very special 2000 to 2002 era of drum & bass with all tracks played at Slammin Vinyl during these years.

In 2000/2001 with not much going on in the hardcore scene I was buying a lot of drum & bass and going to One Nation, World Dance, Flashback and of course Slammin Vinyl and spending all night in the D&B arena. In 2000 the music was very techy, dark and unforgiving, with most DJs championing this harder sound with some BIG releases on Ram, Renegade Hardware, Trouble On Vinyl, Virus and more.

This was a very special time for me, I was 18 in 2000 and out most weekends gurning me tree off, hanging off the barrier and calling for a rewind then I would spend all my money on records in the week! Lots of great memories from The Sanctuary, The Lighthouse, Que Club and many more during this time. Enjoy!

Thumpa - That's The Sound Of Slammin Vinyl Drum & Bass 2000 - 2002

Over lockdown I must have listened to every Helter Skelter set ever recorded! I did a series of mixes celebrating 1996 to 1999 but then I went back and listened to the 17th Sep 93 tapes and realised I had so many tunes from these sets. 

I decided to put a set together of JUST tunes from the tapes, there's so much variety whether it was the pianos from the Slipmatt set, the darkness from the Randall set or the weirdness from The Music Maker set...93 was such an exciting year. I hope you enjoy my tribute to this crazy year where the light and the dark clashed and hardcore jungle techno reigned supreme...
