Missy C has come up over the lockdown period shining through with some stinking mixes and appearances on out kitchen sessions series. “Being a DnB raver for most of my life and I have only recently started Djing, I love all sub-genres of drum and bass, but at the moment I am bang into rollers - the darker the better, which is ironic because listening these choons brightens my day.
Technically, I am still learning the craft and enjoying DJing as a hobby, but have had a few paid gigs, I have an amazing and patient tutor (who is big in the game), but one thing you cannot teach is taste and knowledge of bangers from nearly 20 years of raving.
I feel like I now have a purpose after being lost for so long, my life has become so much better since I have begun this journey and my passion for DnB has given me life again.”  I can relate heavily to this, maybe a lot of you can too, maybe you would like to start but get stuck before you’ve even given it a go, all I can say is give it a spin and you won’t look back.

GUEST MIX S3 003: MISSY C

Nik Aka Ghosty is in his 4th year of dentistry at Liverpool Uni. "Ive been playing out for a couple years now and have earned myself residencies for some of Liverpool’s biggest dnb brands including Rum Riddimz Run and 100th Monkey & the DNB LAB. I play a mix of jungle and rollers, drawing inspiration from late 90s jungle tape packs as well as more recent mixes.  I’ve spent a lot of time recently working on @Frontleft_dnb, my new dnb brand that aims to give local up and coming DJs a meaningful platform, where they can hone their craft. This is the first mix I’ve put out since I’ve started mixing so I wanted to include some of my favourite tunes, some of which I don’t usually get a chance to include in my normal sets. The mix includes tunes from some of my favourite labels such as Grid Recordings, Nuusic and Dread Recordings."

This week we have grassroots DJ CEL making a name for himself on the Liverpool Circuit: “I’ve always been a huge fan of dnb but I only started mixing during lockdown last March. Since then I’ve supported Inja & Voltage as well as playing and getting involved with some of Liverpool’s most popular labels like Dnblab, Front Left & One More Tune. I usually play jump up and take the inspiration from DJ’s such as Logan D, Bou & Sub Zero. I hope now I’ve started get into events that I can start growing a bigger profile.”

  Cel is one to watch out for with some naughty dance floor/ Jump up blends. Keep your eyes on him as he’s sure to get some mega bookings.

Your eyes are not deceiving you, this is, the first, exclusive 100% Conrad subs production mix, stuffed full of brand new, unheard dubs. 

For those of you who don't yet know of Conrad Subs (real name Adam Krolik) has been producing Drum & Bass Jungle music for over 20 years. He has gone under many names in the past: ADK, Nifty and Sulako to name a few, but after taking a small break he returned to production in 2017 under the new alias Conrad Subs and quickly established himself as a rising talent in the scene.

Early releases on labels such as Soul Deep, Inna Rhythm and DJ Hybrid’s Deep in the Jungle showcased Conrad’s diverse sound - Liquid, Jump Up, Jungle… All styles were present in his arsenal, and things quickly gained momentum. 

Fast forward a few years and Subs now has a wealth of dancefloor classics in his discography. From the massive ‘Leave Dem’, ‘Little Vibey Thing’ and ‘Bump & Grind’ on Nuusic, the irrepressible ‘Dance’ on his own MAAD TING! imprint, to a feast of dancefloor fire on Deep in the Jungle including anthems such as ‘Come Selecta’, ‘When It’s Time’, ‘Special Request’ and ‘The Rhythm’. With other releases on highly respected labels such as Symmetry, Liquid V, Program, Dread, Delta9, Soulvent, Murky and Liondub International, plus a 2019 We Love Jungle Awards nomination for Best Breakthrough Producer, there is no stopping Conrad Subs.

GUEST MIX S3 002: 100% CONRAD SUBS

Alien Izz is a multi genre DJ spinning all things bass music. She first cut her teeth on the dnb scene in Liverpool with Meraki and Rum Riddimz Run, and has since supported dnb heavy weights Inja, Serum, DJ Hype and Hybrid Minds. 

By day, Alien Izz works at Melodic Distraction Radio as a radio host and producer. Here, she's just finished teaching a free 6 week course of DJ workshops aimed at providing a rare opportunity for underrepresented genders in the music industry.

This summer, Izz is set to play Baltic Weekender, the One in the Woods and Gottwood festival, alongside upcoming gigs in Liverpool for Rum Riddimz, the DnB Lab and Radium.
