Another sad edition of the Damage Control Program on KPFT in Houston. On this night we gave it up to another fallen legend, Mr. 3-2, one of the most DAY ONE REALEST INNOVATIVE MC'S TO EVER COME OUT OF HOUSTON!

His influence was infinite and he was literally a part of every era of Houston rap from day one until today. His legacy lives on forever. On this show you will hear classic songs, and lots of real talk about the man himself. The Wicked Buddha Baby, The Governor, Fatt Domino, Lord 3-2, MAY YOU REST IN POWER AND PEACE!

And as if this wasn't sad enough, the final caller on the show to call in and show love was Ivory P, who was killed by police in Baytown, Texas less than one week later. H-Town mayne...

Damage Control Tribute to Mr. 3-2 Nov. 17, 2016 (RIP 3-2)

Atlantic Records own amazing VP of A&R, Shawn Barron, joins us for Episode 23. We talk about his upbringing in Buffalo, NY, and what got him started in the music business. We then get into who he's working with at Atlantic (Ty Dolla $ign, Kap G, Jevon Doe, etc), how he signed Ty Dolla $ign, and even get into a few stories about how close some other big names came to signing with the label. All of it combines into one of our favorite shows to date. Before the interview (which starts at 11:45), Shawn joins us to discuss some current events in the music industry, including UMG's new deal with Spotify, and JAY Z pulling his catalog from non-TIDAL services.

The Quarantine Sessions: We Inside

DJ Chill stopped by to talk about his 30+ year career in the music industry. Chill started off as a DJ in Houston, taught by the late DJ Screw. Screw and Chill formed a friendship that would last until his untimely death on November 16, 2000. After Screw's passing, Chill went on to tour and travel the world with Tela, Lil Flip, Bun B and a host of others. This is another great episode!

H-Town lost another real one. Though he was born in Atlantic City, NJ, Rick Royal came to Houston with his family in high school. He soon became known as one of the greatest MC's to ever emerge from Houston's burgeoning hardcore rap scene. He is known as one of the fore fathers of Gangsta/Reality Rap as his story telling street tales were some of the most vivid and real ever put on wax. He precedes most of your favorite rappers, and like many of Houston's underground legends, could be your favorite rappers favorite rapper. 

Bun B of UGK/MDDL FNGZ and Big Munn of MDDL FNGZ join me to discuss the history of the man and the scene he helped to create and nurture and develop. I don't have a lot of details about his passing, any information would be greatly appreciated. REST IN PEACE POWER AND HEAVEN RICKY ROYAL FOREVER!
