Originally recorded in 2007.  This was the mix that forced me to buy Torq. I remember fiending for "Everything I am" after hearing Graduation and wanting to get that song on my turntables desperately. When the people at Fat Beats told me that the Graduation album wasn't going to be released on vinyl, something had to give. A few days later I was a Torq owner and working on this mix. I still buy vinyl, but not nearly as much as I once did (which is good for my wallet but bad for the record stores)

DJ CHIEF-ONE - 1991 MIXTAPE

London’s very own Spin Doctor has been a busy boy while in Lockdown. He has created this epic mix dedicated to the powerhouse that is Q-Tip. Using 50 tracks to mark The Abstract’s 50th Birthday on Friday 10th April 2020.
 
The mix combinies a bunch of Tip’s productions, verses, samples, interviews and more. From A Tribe Called Quest to Solange, Nas to Quincey Jones, the mix explores all aspects of this man’s genius.
 
There are very few artists that can claim such impact on an entire genre, but A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-Tip can do just that and more. As a member of what is widely agreed to be the greatest Hip-Hop group of all time, as a solo artist and as a producer for the great and the good, Q-Tip’s impact is immeasurable. Through his influence on the likes of J-Dilla, Kanye West and Pharrell, his influence can still be heard throughout all forms of Hip-Hop and Soul. Keep Bouncing!
