After so many years I finally got my feet on the cold sand of playa and ran to this bus I’ve been hearing about for so long. My first night and my first show. Never to be forgotten. My expectations ended up being meaningless because I was living the unimaginable. This special moment deserved my very best, so a set full of my own unreleased originals is what I played! and off to what will always be remembered as one of the most incredible experiences of my life: My first burn! A crystal like cluster of Lighthouses ranging from 6 to 60 foot tall and some leaning as much as 20 degrees. Inspired by the juxtaposition of creating a destination of fun and shelter by something that is meant to warn you of danger. This adult jungle gym aims to become a destination where participants come to seek shelter, play, meetup with friends and navigate the inland sea that is the Playa. At night the Lighthouses will truly come alive with fire, light, and a few other surprises.

The Lab NYC is Mixmag and Smirnoff Sound Collective's weekly afterwork party where we stream the best American and international DJs from the intimate space connected to our Brooklyn office. Mixmag welcomed Brian Cid to The Lab NYC for a deep and ethereal journey through tech house.

For those familiar with the late night and early morning atmospheres of Brooklyn’s underground party scene, Brian Cid is likely a recognizable name. Once the music engineer of choice for artists such as Wiz Khalifa, Mos Def, and Snoop Dogg, Brian then found his true calling in the realm of dance music. After garnering early support from the illustrious Nervous Records in 2012, Cid began to catch the attention of industry tastemakers Richie Hawtin, Pete Tong, Claude Vonstroke, Lee Burridge, and Mark Knight, among others. The Brooklyn native and Cityfox affiliate has been steadily carving out a place for himself in the hypnotic realm of dance music.

Cid currently has plans to release a mini album on his own Extinct label in December while also working on an album for his new collaborative project with Holmar Filipsson of Thugfucker called Theory Of Light. 2017 will also see Brian release an EP on microCastle releasing in February and another EP on Cityfox to follow. With much to look forward to on the horizon, he’s sure to take to The Lab NYC with plenty of new material to share.

Gary J. Brown aka GBrown was born in New Orleans, La. By the age of thirteen, Gary realized what he was born to do and never looked back. As a DJ, for over twenty five years Gary has had DJ residencies and gigs a like, sharing the booth and stage with some of the biggest names in the industry. Through out the 1990's Gary pioneered the late night club scene of New Orleans, La. His acomplishments has titled him as one of New Orleans, La. legendary DJ's.

As a producer, Gary has been producing and releasing music since 1997. His original/remix production have become a global recognized sound and have caught the ears of some of the biggest names in the industry. In 2016 Gary's first EP was signed to Lithuanian label, Suffused Music which reached to #16 in the progressive house chart on beatport. Be on the lookout for future releases and DJ sets by up and coming GBrown.
