when they dug him up, the scientists argued a lot about what to do. they all agreed he should be preserved though, as perfect as they had found him. the possibilities seemed endless. in the end, they settled on a process called ‘chemical fixation and plastic embedding’. essentially, they turned his body (more importantly his brain) into a hunk of exquisitely preserved plastic. right down to a subatomic level.  otis’ dried flesh was slowly and painstakingly replaced with clean, pure, hard wearing and water proof plastic. that at the end of the process, he was as crisp and clean as he had ever been in life. or at least the life before...

when otis finds his fiddle it’s much cleaner than he remembers it ever being. the sound feels a little like the enamel coating on his favourite old tin mug (where is that thing anyway?), but it does feel good to have it back and so he plays. the music opens doors like it always did but this time it’s within that he sees a different world rather than without.

When Otis awakens he knows something is wrong because his fiddle isn’t on his lap. He always takes it everywhere. There is a lot of anger in him which just doesn’t feel right. He’s not sure why his memories all seem mixed up as well...
