Ruse (@rusemusicbristol) makes his Scuffed Recordings debut with the Masami EP, featuring three new darkside UK club tracks.

Previously releasing music as Silene, the Bristol-based producer has made appearances on labels like Fever AM, Nous Disques, and Miracle Drug, picking up in-the-know support across NTS, Rinse and the Crack Mix among others in the process.

EP opener ‘Masami’ is a skippy, sub-loaded delight, taking influence from the early 00s work of Horsepower Productions and El-B, echoing the moment where UK garage morphed into dubstep.

Next up is ‘Kudo’, which layers breaks and electro-inspired production under an otherworldly, warped vocal.

Ruse shows a different side to his production with release closer ‘Fukawa’, a melodic roller led by grooving percussion and stripped-back flutes.

Australian label B&H Records' next release is from Gavnlig. The Copenhagen-born producer with Icelandic roots, Gavnlig plays with a range of sounds from across the hardcore continuum.  His new EP "Living In Fear" showcases gritty percussion, deep bass, and repetitive vocal stabs shuffled up in unexpected ways.
During their Sound Design studies at Sonic College they released multiple EP’s, organized community-driven raves for local culture-starved youth and did event production for Strøm Festival. They’ve also held residencies at several community radios and combined with their years of experience DJ’ing in the Danish climbing community, Gavnlig has a layered understanding of every step of the sonic process - from inception of musical idea to the scoops and kickbins that make the crowd vibrate." The phrase “FOOTMAHI” was first brought to light by BFC founding member MUSHMANE of Tainui.

The story goes that the BFC were huddled up drinking a communal slab of 8% Cody’s on a bitterly cold Ōtautahi winters afternoon watching a young in-form Shaun Johnson absolutely tear the Sydney Roosters defence to shreds with his electric “footwork” - when Mushmane screamed out “LOOK AT THE FOOTMAHI” changing the course of BFC history forever all in the birthplace of The Big Fresh Collective; The Parage on 40A Richill Street, Belfast, Ōtautahi.
