As we re-enter with Vol. 7 of Meeting Of The Minds & I've got a very special set of tracks on this one.

Even though I've known Sully for a number of years now, we've never actually been able to work on a tune together, for no reason in particular. We've been supporting each other's music in that time & I've been a big fan of some of his music, especially the tunes on his label Uncertain Hour, his recent EP on Astrophonica & his collaborative EP with Kid Lib on Magic 3. But our paths have never really crossed musically, so I thought that this collaborations series would give me good reason to get in touch and work on something with him and the outcome of that is "Windswept".

MUSIC FROM BEYOND THE NORTH WIND…

Sempra and Slinki set off an excursion through neo-grime, bassline and 160 as they go head-to-head, ripping apart and rebuilding each others’ work for the second edition of the XS series!

Sempra’s icy “Hyperborean” sets pace on the EP, drawing on some serious post-dubstep influence, using layered neon melodies, foley-esque percussion and floaty vocal chops- think Murlo meets Rustie on a cyberpunk backdrop. Slinki’s “Your Queen” rides off the same energy, with the Huddersfield producer looking to out-arpeggio his release mate, on a buoyant and energetic grime track, full of woozy gliding basses.

Both artists up the tempo on remix duties- Slinki’s rework turns “Hyperborean” into a bouncy bassline number, bounding over a 4x4 beat. Sempra heads full tilt into 160 territory, with his interpretation of “Your Queen”, a hybrid footwork-jungle banger that feels like driving down Rainbow Road, with added whomps and breakbeats.

His remix of our fave rave king  Samurai Breaks' "Marathon" instantly makes you wish you where sweaty on a dance floor . Coming from a deep knowledge of audio theory, Groves’ music is powerful, raw, direct, and fresh while paying homage to his influences and the culture. 
His contribution to Sub Merchants 'Surrey Street' EP, is perfectly placed in its intention of exploring the contemporary evolution of jungle music. The Canadian duo Levrige is back to The Dreamers Recordings with a vibrant three track EP. This release proves once again the great talent of these producers, able to master the breakbeat & bassline science adding their own artistic touch and delivering product with clear footwork influences, mixing oldschool influences with a contemporary sound research. “Boss Move” is a feel good footwork tune with a tropical flair. The song is characterized by it's bouncy bongo shuffles, percussive bass stab and sweeping synth line. “OMG” finds a sophisticated balance between modern sounds and old school flavour.
