Puts me in a beautifully natural place of refuge :-)

We walked through the redwoods before the fires came.  The ancient green and silence surrounding us a safe haven from the pandemic world beyond the trees. Now, the beach, where the waves meet the shore between the smoke and marine layer, is a place of wild comfort.  The meditation cushion, surrounded by candles and incense in the predawn darkness, a space of refuge, to catch one’s breath from all that’s suffocating outside.  We all have our secret, sacred spaces outside and in, that we retreat to for ease and comfort, especially now with a world going up in flames.

Music has always been my infinite private temple, that untouchable realm, an impenetrable bubble of sound I could cocoon myself in for awhile to rediscover myself while the storm blows over.  So I’ve turned to it again in this time of anxiety, fear and uncertainty.  This offering is my transport through a turbulent sea to a hidden island, where the sun burns bright, the trees are abundant with life, the turquoise waters are tranquil and the sky is eternal blue.
