Hi we are Layer Cake – the band you didn’t see coming like that dollop of tomato sauce in Paul Kelly’s gravy recipe.

Our debut self titled EP to be released at the beginning of 2019 was produced, engineered and recorded by Matt Redlich (ball park music/ holy holy/emma louise), at Head Gap Studios and the Aviary in Melbourne.

What came out has been compared to indie rock favourites such as The Strokes, Vampire Weekend and The Kooks – however you can compare us to whoever you like, as long as they are incredibly more successful than us and we can live vicariously through an over fluffed complimentary comparison.

Following the release of our explosive debut self-acclaimed smash hit single, Keep Me Awake, we have been met with an overwhelmingly positive response and managed to pack Lefty's Old Time Music Hall (250 capacity venue) like a can of sardines for our very first show.

Storming the Glaswegian scene and beyond, The Dunts are quickly becoming one of Scotland’s hottest exports. Forming in late 2016, the young quartet are a new breed, demanding attention with their unique mix of defiant guitars, statement rhythm and acerbic lyricism - branded ‘council punk’. 

Produced by Johnny Madden (of Baby Strange) and Chris Marshall (Gerry Cinnamon, Rascalton, The Van T’s), their debut self-released EP ‘Not Working Is Class’ boasted vicious yet intelligently energetic punk anthems, squeezed into an electrifying 9 minutes. 

‘Dimitri’, a stand-out track from the EP, gained ardent radio support from BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway,  Radio X’s John Kennedy and BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens - who crowned the single ‘Pick Of The Week’ upon release. Follow up single ‘Birds and The Beez’, and the most recent release, ‘Witch Hunt’ also gained Huw Stephens’ coveted accolade, and received plays on global tastemaker stations such as Los Angeles’ KROQ and Germany’s FluxFM. 

Unapologetic and irrefutable - their live shows have rewarded them with sold-out shows in hometown venues, King Tuts and Stereo. In 2018 alone, their blistering performances and rocketing reputation have seen the foursome pack-out tents and stages alike at Electric Fields, Belladrum, XpoNorth, Stag and Dagger, as well as the monumental Reading & Leeds festivals. 

United by an undeniable ferocity and charming tongue-in-cheek sensibilities, The Dunts are Rab Smith, David McFarlane, Colin McGachy and Kyle McGhee. Their sophomore EP ‘Self Proclaimed Council Punk’ is set to be released in late September.
