DOING TOO MUCH

Face Machine inhabits the blurred threshold between the human and the synthetic, where identity becomes fluid and is constantly rewritten. Drifting between melodic techno, underground trance and electro-pop, the album unfolds like a network of unstable selves - mirrors folding into mirrors, names dissolving into signals. Vocals shift between male and female, merging with abstract textures until the human voice becomes something unbound, a mutable instrument suspended between body and machine. Each track carves its own passage through luminous, volatile atmospheres, yet all are tethered by a shared sonic architecture of detuned oscillators, layered melodic counterpoint, and synthesis timbres that breathe with organic motion.

These twelve tracks move through states of emergence and disappearance - memory scattering, identity refracting, presence dissolving into signal. Wordless chants, whispered fragments, and spectral harmonies drift like residues of selves that never fully arrive. Within this landscape, rhythm and texture intertwine: polyrhythmic layers build and collapse, melodic threads blur into complex harmonic tides, and shifting tonalities open portals into new emotional terrain. Face Machine doesn't offer resolution; instead, it lingers in the spaces where perception falters and technology reshapes what it means to exist. It is an album of thresholds and transformations - a meditation on how we become, lose, and reinvent ourselves in an age where even our voices can belong to someone, or something, else.

The people who stayed worked for General Motors, Ford, etc. I find most of the kindest, warm hearted people in Detroit. People who respect you for the character in your soul rather then the color of your skin. Their music was their only escape. Techno Christmas is Detroit during Movement week.  I played the official After-Party for Soul Clap on Saturday.   The best Techno DJ's from around the globe and from the original Detroit scene represented hard.  It made me realize when I had my monthly residency at Motor Lounge from 1997-2001 that it always did well because I played Techno from around the world.  And that tradition still exists today.  Motor City.  Birthplace of Techno.  Now & Always.

ESCAPE TO DETROIT

Thrilled to have gotten a proper recording from this year's Even Further in Highbridge, WI.  What a unique and essential event for the techno enthusiast.  It was a real treat teaming up with the IowaTechno/Udopia crew and jamming it out on the Children Of The Corn DIYSS Saturday afternoon. Tony, Bob, Bernard and I were holed up in Lake Arrowhead this past holiday weekend and we DJed back to back for 4 hours. during the Re:Love Live Stream. Dutch - Excapades in Trance 1

Thee-O started DJing at the young age of 13 and by the time he was 18 in 1992, he started DJing in the thriving underground rave scene of Southern California. He has created a name for himself while changing genres and staying true to his integrity, committing to what he feels is the best in underground dance music. His consistency of skillful mixing and lively scratching has cemented “his sound” regardless of what genres co-mingle in his style.

In addition to his DJing, Thee-O is also an accomplished producer and remixer that have landed tracks on Bedrock, Suara, Perfecto, Looq, Drops and System Recordings to name just a few. His approach to music production mimics his DJing artistry in the aspect that genre comes second over the feeling of the music. Genres and styles are split, shattered and then reformed into songs that work on multiple dance floors.

Recently, he was DJing and producing with Robert Pointer (AKA Robtronik) under the name Stylus. Stylus is also responsible for some of the most engaging events to occur in Los Angeles . Their events have occurred in amazing venues such as King King in the heart of Hollywood, The Standard Rooftop in downtown LA and Los Globos in the trendy Silverlake area, while attracting international talent of both House and Techno to join in on the fun. Thee-O also continues to work with the LA Based "re:love" crew to plan and execute the legendary park parties as well as pushing the brand to extend itself into new venues and opportunities.

As of January 2019, Thee-O has relocated to Honolulu. He is already DJing on the islands and has played for events at venues like Nextdoor and Hawaiian Brian’s as well as the Tropical Oasis Retreat in Maui. While he is on the islands, the slower pace of life will allow him to work on music with less distractions and should increase his output. 

While a lot can be talked about when it comes to “Old School,” Thee-O walks the walk. He has accomplished a lot in his 24 years of being a DJ, producer and promoter and he is just getting started. He remains wildly popular while staying firmly planted into the underground scene and not falling into the hype that can surround the current EDM culture. With a new island home, new ventures, new branding, new tracks, and new ideas, the future is going to be one for the books with lots more to come from this music innovator.
