When I started working on Pass(h)erby, the intent behind the track was to paint this contrast between life and the world; how when you face sorrows, the world around you seems unperturbed by it and carries on forward. It really makes you realize how, in the grand scheme of things, insignificant your pains really are.

"The concept behind the EP basically tries to convey the life cycle of a rather unfortunate relationship. Essentially, in the end, the relationship falls through, because the girl meets with an accident, and consequently, passes away. On hearing this news, the guy goes into depression and could have ended his life (I leave it open-ended so people can draw from their own experiences to complete the story). 

However, despite all this heavy emotional turmoil between these two people, the world remained completely unaware of their story and carried on."

The Earflower Experiment is a project run by multi-instrumentalist musician, and producer, Astaaq Ahmed. Rooted in the immediacy and presence of live music, he creates projects that explore the boundaries between acoustic instrumentation and modern production. 

Whether performing with a live band or looping instruments, Astaaq sews together a sonic space-time migration across the globe. Traditional and indigenous sounds meet new forms of electronic music, soulful vocals, melodic instrumentation and mellow beats. 

Interested in the invisible connections that exist around us, his music explores the relationships between seemingly disparate elements: silence and form, ancient and future, acoustic and electronic all blend into a cohesive sonic voice. 
While each performance, project or set may vary, expect a through-line of mellifluous melodies, head nodding beats and impactful musicality.
