If I Give You The Funk, You Gon' Take It

The Eclectic Beings. A phrase immediately provoking sensory stimulation; one might be quickly swept into some vivid imagery that may embody the meaning behind such nomenclature. Perhaps a vision of an intergalactic peoples, celestial in nature and adorned in the brilliance of a tactile spectrum. A most suited name to the intensely musical Los Angeles bred duo:  Steven C. Martin and A.J. Boatwright, both trained and tremendously talented artists in their own right. Steven, an accomplished keyboardist, drummer and percussionist and A.J. a lauded drummer and DJ. The self-appointed title not only describes who they are as musicians, and the sound they craft, but also the type of people they incite with their music: diverse, open-minded and optimistic.

In a similar vein to artists such as Jazzanova, Little Dragon, Prince, and J*Davey; their music is simultaneously vintage, modern and futuristic. With not so subtle hints of 70’s funk, dominating 80’s synths, and modern electronic sounds; the duo has given genesis to an unconventional fusion. A sound that is withstanding, has vast appeal and is highly malleable to the evolution of music.
