This is the second demo i recorded for the song Disappear from The Ex Senators album.  Recorded in my basement studio this take is is just me   on guitar, vocals and then I did a quick overdub of drums at the end.  Wrote the song a few weeks earlier in a hotel room on an acoustic guitar and recorded first demo on my iPhone and had refined the lyric to this version which is pretty much what ended up on the album with full production.  This is as raw as it gets for me.  For Kyle.

Where are the songs of defiance, the songs of community and redemption?  

Music can be many things but sometimes it can become a voice of social conscience. It can relate to the real world.  The Ex Senators from Chicago do just that. They deliver an honest hard musical punch with unapologetic social commentary, wily wit and wisecracks.

“I want people to think when they listen to our music”, says group leader Dmac. “It’s about being engaged, making people more aware of life and the world around them hopefully so they’ll feel something - in the least take the musical trip with us.”
If you ever loved music from The Clash, Social Distortion, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park and Rise Against, then you are sure to love The Ex Senators.

 “Start a Fight”, the first single is fueled by an animated video with no holds-barred - a call-to-arms on present day American politics. “We couldn’t get Sarah Palin to dress as Wonder Woman with a shotgun, or Keith Olbermann to wear his “Super liberal” tights & cape…(You know he owns that outfit!), so we decided to do it a la “The Ramones Spiderman” anime style. -Dmac. 

The lead off cut on the album “Angel”, combines cinematic, intimate lyrics with arena-ready force.   Deeper tracks like “United Corporations of America” and “The Kids Are Trouble” are two fisted stomps on the current state of affairs, while “Disappear” is a song Dmac wrote in memory of his friend who died two days after the group’s first stage appearance. The song appropriately closes the album.

When recording the album they enlisted the help of veteran producer Chris Steinmetz. The album was mastered by the legendary Bob Ludwig (Green Day, Nirvana, Radiohead, The Smashing Pumpkins.)
