The unique combination of 90s hip-hop jams and 70s funk beats -- DMX and Earth, Wind & Fire more specifically -- playing over twin JL subs in the trunk of your mother's Mercedes leaves a certain impression on a kid. For DJ Murph, that impression created a monster. 

A Pacific Northwest upbringing has left an indelible mark on this young Southern California DJ. An intimate familiarity with (and impression collection of) both local and national hip-hop scenes helped land DJ Murph his first on-air mixing position at the age of 18 with People's Choice radio station X 104.5 in Seattle.

Crooklyn Clan legend DJ Risk One took DJ Murph under his wing and had the fast-learner rocking Seattle-area clubs and lounges by his 19th birthday. "Risk and DJ Groove [another mentor of DJ Murph's] were battle DJs who really helped me with learning techniques and how to scratch." DJ Murph has since served as the resident DJ at Karma Martini Lounge and Seven Salon in Bellevue, WA. 

Since relocating to Southern California, Murph has blended his hip-hop history with the local house, electro flavor to earn residence at the Dolce Group's Orange County Geisha House. "My genre now is pretty open format -- I'll mix hip hop, old school, 80s, house, electro, rock, and the top 40 -- anything to take the party to that NEXT level." 

His current role has brought Murph from industry fledgling to budding Mogul. He's brought the crowd behind the tables with Flip video blogs and into his head with a new blog, Fresh B33ts. From intimate lounges to the 3000-strong annual Undie Run at Chapman University, this guy does it all. After opening for DJ Felli Fel, Rockstar Energy Drinks and OC-locals White and Crazy Kids have learned to call on DJ Murph all their party rocking needs.
