Incredible track, and what a departure from OPOH. I love the fact that the Figgs consider tone and connection so rigorously when putting together an album - almost to the point that it becomes a "concept album" in terms of sound, timbre, and style. They are the best at what they do - the "gold standard", as Metroland once said when they were like, 19 years old. Now they are so fearless that I am completely prepared to have all of my expectations upended with each new Figgs release. And you just know that Scorsese is gonna lift the last 45-50 seconds of this track for his next mob movie. That being said, I discourage whoever played the piano coda here to look too deeply into the biographies of "makers of piano codas used by Scorsese to great effect". It's fucking spooky. -JC
