The song’s inception began with the bass line which was inspired by everything from Arctic Monkeys to U2. The cool verses were a contrast to the overpowering rhythm section, with easy flowing lyrics chosen for their phonetic sound more than their meaning. Building to the anthemic chorus which takes us to the muse of the song, “Plain Jane” - the narrator has concerns with her in the opening lines “It’s all too much/ it’s all too real”.

The Flitz are a classic four-piece indie outfit from London, UK. Their sound draws on elements of Britpop and alternative rock inspired by iconic acts such as The La’s, Oasis and The Kinks, as well as the more contemporary rock sounds of Fontaines D.C. and DMA’s.

Frontman Dan Fishlock and bassist Ben Strong’s educations in jazz and classical music respectively lend interesting and at times unique colour to tracks, whilst James Kerrison weaves in delicate melodic lines whilst taking a break from punching through with soaring guitar solos. The whole band is drawn together by Mike Lees, driving the anthemic sound with discipline and power behind the kit.

Having solidly established themselves in London’s independent music scene, and using this time to hone their skills and sound, The Flitz are looking to step out of the city and bring their infectious grooves to the rest of the UK.
