The Floe are British pop duo Sarah Springett and Liz Townsend.

Their live performances sweep effortlessly between breathtakingly heartfelt Adele-worthy piano ballads to impassioned angst-driven electronica, drawing on influences such as Massive Attack, Portishead and other luminaries in their field. At the heart of every Floe song lies Townsend's multi-instrumental musicality, Springett's melodic and distinctively direct lyrics and two incredible voices.

Having been touring and recording for over a decade together with a 'full band' incarnation of The Floe, both Sarah and Liz bring all the experience and wisdom of many years in the business together to a writing partnership that is still in its infancy. A sudden and disastrously timed line-up change in 2010 saw the pair become the only remaining members of a team that were teetering on the brink of mainstream success. Keeping their unshakeable faith in the music and turning to each other as co-writers, managers, business partners and friends the two have truly come back fighting, rewarding the unswerving loyalty of their fans by bringing them something even fresher and more progressive than they could have hoped.

'Headlights' (digital single, released 4th March 2013) is an epic Trip-Step collaboration with Sony/ATV writer/producer James Earp which sees the girls make another brave leap forwards. Exploring a more dramatic, electro sound, 'Headlights' is much darker than their 'Simple Pleasures' releases in 2012 which saw them stripping their performances and recordings back to the bare bones and presenting them in the most intimate of settings.

Now though, The Floe are chomping at the bit to share what they've been busily developing 'behind-the-scenes' and to further realise their potential in 2013.

Notable highlights for The Floe in previous years have included working with Grammy Award winning Mixer/Producer Simon Gogerly (Paloma Faith, U2, Underworld, The London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony), nationwide exposure from Caffe Nero and Image Sound, airplay on Radio 2 and across the BBC, numerous supports for the likes of Glen Tilbrook and Ultravox and an International Songwriting Competition Honourable Mention. The Floe have also toured tirelessly across the U.K and Ireland, notching up many hundreds of performances and comfortably selling out venues in their home county of Essex.

Who knows what lies in store for The Floe in the future but one thing is for certain... 'Headlights' and this new collection of electro tracks is testament to their resilience and tenacity, and proof that this phoenix is set to do so much more than rise from the flames!

The Floe take their craft seriously and you can hear it in every beat and every breath of the music they share. With talent and ambition as natural, vast and unending as the scenery their name evokes, The Floe's trajectory looks set to continue onwards and upwards in 2013 and beyond.
