Following The Frederik’s stunning remix of Faroese singer, Greta Svabo Bech’s ‘Shut Up & Sing’, the young Danish producer is set to release ‘Torpedo’, the latest sonic bass weapon that adds to a growing audio armoury. And if the original wasn’t enough, this release comes complete with a remix from leading UK production talent, Far Too Loud.

The Frederik is now back in Copenhagen, ensconced in his studio working on new material and preparing for the launch of his debut hometown club night, The Frederik Presents, on 28th November. The first guests for this regular party are Zeds Dead. The Frederik has enjoyed a hugely successful first year. ‘Torpedo’ follows this year’s Beatport hits ‘Heavy Crownage EP’ and ‘56K EP’, and on the touring front he’s played the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Ibiza event at Privilege, Creamfield’s mainstage, Leeds Festival, Balaton Sound, Wuk and many more.

Taken as an excerpt from the vastly diverse ‘Deadset Momentum’ LP, part A gives us a taste of the 4/4 sound from the LP with a heavy focus on groove and style.

“‘Peak Control’ references my electronic musical roots, the piece is structured on the concept of a 4/4 pattern that solely relies on a carefully crafted analogue growl-based groove rather than leaving everything up to the drop.

‘The Deadset Momentum’, which shares the LP’s title, is a dark ever-building techno influenced piece which is accompanied by a melancholic set of self-written lyrics. The track is the result of my experimentation with different methods of achieving a groove that appears faster than its actual bpm and also pays ode to old-school techno recordings”

No Tomorrow Recordings

Taken as an excerpt from the vastly diverse ‘Deadset Momentum’ LP, part B showcases the more bass-heavy style from the forthcoming LP.

“’Wyte’ had actually been finished sometime back in 2014, until I picked it up again, and entirely reworked the piece into the awkward, though delightful, meeting between Arabian-inspired disco and vomit-like bass growls. I’ve once again been thrilled to work with the notorious Messinian, who, as always, did a next-level job with his unmistakable vox-works.

‘Averse’ - the untameable and cocky bastard child of mine. I wanted to do two drops that although following the same red-line were as different as ever, going full in on the sub-divisions in the first peak following with a drop that would seem half the speed as the first. ‘Averse’ relies solely on bass sound design deriving from analogue equipment.”
