After over a year away from the recording studio, new wave duo The Frestonians return with "The Long Road." In 2025, the duo embraced a new direction in their songwriting. The track uses "The Long Road" as a metaphor for life’s journey, exploring themes of uncertainty, solitude, and self-reflection. Imagery such as "driving to nowhere" and "heading into the dark" captures the challenges of navigating the unknown. The absence of people and repetitive nature of the journey mirror feelings of isolation and the search for meaning. "Taking the long way home" symbolises the detours, twists, and turns of life as one seeks belonging or understanding. The song evokes a contemplative mood, reflecting the lonely but meaningful process of self-discovery.
