she needs to make a referral to an actual therapist.  it's unethical for her to have a dual relationship with a client so this is practice for her future as well.

If she were dealing with this young lady as a client she could decompress when the session was over, but as a friend she has 24 hour access to her, and that can be overbearing. I understand the need to assist, but boundries are necessary. If she doesn't set them then she will eventually find herself lacking in some area. Sometimes people who are needy will drain you, and when you're no longer filled to a capacity where they can benefit they will leave you to find another source of energy while you're left trying to fill yourself back up.

Fran, while you feel you have things to change & I dont know you personally, please dont downplay how awesome you are
