You’re right Fran …. Last year a few Astrologers on Twitter predicted that the way society sees celebrities would change this year , like it would be the age of truth in a way.

Vince staoles actually spoke on this really well, he said that Drake's $400million deal with Universal Music Group (UMG) fucked over all of his peers who had subsidiery record labels. All the major record labels folded into one, so all if these pt. 1

And  to top it off, people are speculating that part of this deal was for him to get the general public used to AI in music. Thats why Snoop's reaction to his voice being used threw people off. Under this UMG deal, Drake is technically Snoop's pt4

I think Fran set the foundation for this year beautifully in the episode “Backpack Rapper” at the top of the year, where they discussed Mos Def’s comments about Drake. There is a wonderful through-line between Mos Def’s comments, Palestine and finally Kendrick Lamar exposing Drake’s contributions (or lack thereof) to rap. It’s unsurprising that the way people feel about Drake usually aligns with the way they feel about what’s going on in Palestine. It’s all connected and I wish we could speak explicitly about exactly how. Perhaps this could be a topic for another in-depth and journalistic show with NPR, Fran? It’s so necessary. Love ya’ll. 🙏🏿

I agree with Dustin about celebrity. Celebrities are in the same lane as folk heroes, people that do something so extraordinary that they get recognition across generations. I think that the elites have co-opted celebrity to promote such extra consumer culture and dishonest images.

Okay yall, so I hear you in regards to reading the room especially on a super early flight when everyone on the plane is trying to sleep. However, if I can speak for myself and any other anxious airplane passengers, sometimes being able to see what’s going on outside of the airplane window brings me a level of calmness and keeps my anxiety on the lower end of the scale. I know regardless of what could potentially happen to the plane while in the air is out of my control at that point, but if God forbid anything did happen, I’d 1. Truly just like to know if we’re going down & 2. Be able to tell if I’m tripping or if something is actually going wrong with the plane. Even when there’s turbulence, in the back of my mind I’m like, “is the plane going down or am I okay?”. I’ve found that looking out the window helps me calm myself in these moments.
