Was playing around with some chords and was stuck for inspiration on a theme. My 9 year old wandered into the "studio" (spare room) so I said give me a title for a song. He told me he had only come in to say he was "missing pieces" of lego. So I said Missing Pieces will be the title and it grew from there 😃
I asked my good buddy Johnny from No Killie Fish to lay some of his awesome guitar lines for the lead guitar and I think it has really added some flavor to the track and the solo is killer!! 'Hurt Me' is the new single from The Frisbys which will be released 16th December via Dantobaccus Records.

The song is about starting up a new relationship after a significant heartbreak and the battle of deciding whether you are ready to pursue something new when you are still recovering from past hurts. It’s also  protecting other people and recognising that if you’re not ready to move on, you might end up causing someone else pain. Basically... it’s a no win. It sucks to break up with someone and it sucks to be broken up with.

Sorren Maclean is pleased to announce his forthcoming EP, Way Back Home, released 9th March 2015 via Middle Of Nowhere Recordings.

Sorren’s delicate indie folk sound perfectly captures the desolate beauty of his homeland on the Isle Of Mull. There’s a warmth to his voice and guitar playing that gives the listener a feeling of closeness. This is none more
apparent on EP track ‘If Not For You’, where one feels that Sorren could almost be in the room with you. While the title track Way Back Home portrays the longing desperation of life on the road, and the bittersweet homecoming that follows upon the journey back to a more sedate normality. There is a definitive and accomplished quality to Sorren’s sound that allows his voice and guitar to share the spotlight simultaneously.

Growing up on the Isle of Mull, Sorren began playing in bands from age 11. He recorded his debut album, Island, with Colin MacIntyre of Mull Historical Society, which led on to Idlewild singer Roddy Woomble inviting Sorren to co-write his second solo album, The Impossible Song and Other Songs, and they’ve been working together ever since.

As well as playing and touring with Roddy and Mull Historical Society, Sorren also plays in a duo with virtuoso guitarist Finlay Wells. He also produced the EP Echoes by singer Laurie Cameron, which was used in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks and his songs have appeared in E4's Beaver Falls.  Sorren regularly works and records with composer Donald Shaw of Capercaillie, creating music for the soundtracks to BBC Two’s acclaimed Hebrides series and the award winning childrens tv show Katie Morag, as well as many BBC documentaries including McQueen of Scots.

Sorren’s undoubted talent has seen him transcend his own musical projects, having performed on over 20 albums, including upcoming releases from Nashville singer Eliza Lynn and one of Scotlands finest exports, King Creosote whom he is supporting currently on tour.

With new album Winter Stay Autumn due before the summer and a support tour with Idlewild in March, 2015 looks set to be one of his busiest years yet.

Songwriter Hannah Curwood originates from the stark, remote region of Central Otago in New Zealand.

Previously Hannah has released 2 records, Sky Above, Horse Below (2007) and The Blind Love EP (2009). Both received to resounding critical acclaim, tracks such as murder ballad It's Been Snowing All Winter (www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuQK7Z_9Cuc) brought attention to Hannah's use of dark lyrics, twisted imagery and ethereal melody to earn her a place as one of New Zealand's celebrated alternative writers.

Now based in London, Hannah has embarked on a new project, working side by side with Roger O'Donnell of The Cure and a handpicked group of musicians to breathe life into her latest body of work. O'Donnell has supported the band by offering up his country home as a recording base, as well as providing guidance with vocal performance, arrangements and his expertise in synth programming.

The resulting 10 songs bring the likes of P J Harvey, Anna Calvi, Sharon Van Etten, Laura Marling and Smog to mind - delicacy entangled with intensity. The album is currently being mixed by Paul Corkett (The Cure, Nick Cave, Bjork) and will be released in April 2015 on O'Donnell's own label 99X/10 (www.99timesoutof10).

Bio
Twins Helen (vocals, flute) and Nicola Frisby (vocals, acoustic guitar) have been singing and playing music together since they were old enough to speak. Having performed as a duo for many years honing their incredible vocal harmonies, it took a boredom call from a broken-legged Marc Robinson (piano, guitar) to convince them to start a full band. The three were joined by Sam Keer (acoustic/electric/slide guitar), and later, Will Cattermole (bass) and Tom Finigan (drums). They have been producing haunting and emotive music ever since.

The Frisbys have already released a double A-side single - Born and Raised/Give in to the Dark - from the EP, which gives a glimpse of what is to come from this band on the rise. They describe Born and Raised as “light hearted and upbeat...almost a countrified version of No Scrubs by TLC” and Give in to the Dark as a hopeful song about supporting a loved one through dark times. The other tracks on the EP carry a similar theme and are filled with utterly stunning harmonies and musicianship throughout. If you’re looking for something to warm you up this Winter then this EP will definitely do the trick.

Having received past support from Ruth Barnes, Gary Crowley and Kathryn Tickell on Amazing Radio, Mark Forrest on BBC Radio, Team Rock Radio, Gigwise, Folk Radio and For Folk’s Sake, the band already boast an impressive collection of fans. This is already being built upon, with Born and Raised having recently been featured as Track of The Day on Sarah Gorrell’s Drive Time Show on BBC Sussex.

The Cause is out on 29th January 2016 via Dantobaccus Records.
