The brainchild of frontman Kevin McGuire, the California-based band fuses alternative energy, psychedelia, expansive desert grooves, and spaced-out prog into a pulse-pounding, mind-bending original sound, simultaneously capable of both transcendent power and searing emotional range. It is 21st century psychedelic rock without boundaries or limits, simultaneously exalting the genre’s kaleidoscopic past while propelling it ever further into the future.
To create THE GAMA SENNIN, McGuire was aided and abetted by an all-star cast including GRAMMY® Award-winning engineer/producer Peter Franco (Daft Punk), bassist John Avila (Oingo Boingo, Mariachi el Bronx), drummer Adam Maples (Earthlings?, Sea Hags), guitarist Dimitri Coats (OFF!, Burning Brides, Ten Commandos), GRAMMY® Award-nominated keyboard player Chris Caswell (Daft Punk, The Muppets), percussionist Art Pacheco (The Calling, Jamaica) and a special appearance from David Catching (QOTSA, The Desert Sessions, Masters of Reality). The recording of the album was a journey in and of itself, spanning from 2016 through 2020, at such magical & inspiring locations as Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree and Panoramic Studio in Stinson Beach. The result: an elaborate 10-song suite of exceptional psychedelic adventurism, presented in three movements inspired in part by Brian DePalma’s 1974 classic Phantom of the Paradise. The album seamlessly traverses what McGuire explains as “the journey into madness, into the darkness, into the descent that is the destruction of your ego” before ultimately arriving at “a new dawn, the push through the darkness to the final shedding of skin to become this better version of [one]self.”
