"I remember my fourteen year old self, listening to Depeche Mod on a CD player, immersed in their intoxicating sound, yearning to be an English boy, from anywhere, didn't matter where, as long as it was in England. 
I was completely stunned by that sound of pipes and breaking bicycles, flowing from the CD player, shattering my 60's friendly virgin ears that were used to easy melodies played by innocent guitars on a black and white Emerson TV. 

In this "Hello" remix from the Violator album, I chose to use vocals from an early version demo, I absolutely love the raw sound they were able to produce. 
This remix has been with me around the world, played in every set as my secret weapon. Now it's finally time for me to share it with you"

EDIT MACHINE 006 : ELIEZER

Nothing Is Real jumps into the summer season with a different sound shaped EP coming from the talented Stuttgart based dj and producer Banali, which includes 2 brilliant remixes by the Mexicans Zombies In Miami and the German Jakob Mäder.

Banali’s debut solo outing opens up with the title track ‘Call Into The Void’’, a moody and muscular take on dubby electronic music that gradually builds tension and suspense throughout its almost seven-minute duration. The track is followed up soon after with a stellar remix from the mighty Mexican producers, Zombies In Miami, who bring the distorted and trippy synths to the foreground while decorating the track with additional percussions, effects and melodies. The result retains the driving momentum of the original while viewing Banali’s productions through a beautifully cosmic-disco perspective.

The EP’s second track ‘Waiting’ demonstrates Banali’s experimental spirit, as tricked-out sequencer arp and uncanny MIDI instrumentation compete for the listener’s attention. This is a truly original and mesmerizingly unique piece of electronic music, and proves that the producer has more than a few tricks up his sleeve. The Third track ‘Catch A Shadow’ wants to confirm the dubby-fingerprint of Banali’s productions with a main synth who drives into dark pads, twisted bassline and rolling drums.

Finishing off the release is the body-mover remix of the main track by Jakob Mäder, which slowly builds a head-nodding rhythm from chunky snares, punchy kicks and skittering hi-hats before a resonant bass wobble that bring us back to that new wave edge listeners associate with Nothing Is Real.

PREMIERE: Banali - Call Into The Void (Zombies In Miami Remix)

Nativo, Relish, Richmerch, Ninefont Music, Playground, Sprechen, Rotten City Files, Tici Taci, Beachcoma, KNM, Melomana (their very own outlet)… the list of labels where the former trio and currently duo Gameboyz (SXDNS061) have their work published is extensive. Charlie (Carlos Franco) & Kali (Luis Vallespín), when in studio, let the juice flow and fail to disappoint when it comes to seaming together their most personal influences. The result is a powerful acid-meets-stamina-meets-groove devoted-to-the-dance-floor concoction.

Their freshest endeavour lands now on NEIN: The “Chicken & Drugs” EP comes fried and crispy with three outstanding originals and two well-constructed remixes made with love by Ian Vale and Shkema. Premiered here, the latter’s version.

While the original tells its story in 110 BPM, the interpretation of the rising “weird producer and weird DJ” from Lithuania shows its credentials in 116. For his account, Shkema brought the theme to his realm by ripping off the arpeggios and the fat and adding a more frolic and, yes, “weird” gait, somebody would say. We liked it!

This remix comes from German dark disco maestro Freudenthal. The Berlin based producer who has seen his excellent releases on Get Physical, Obsolete and Live at Robert Johnson to name a few, turns in a brilliant interpretation here. Deep, compelling and acutely driving dark disco beats are the name of the game. The cool melodic qualities and richly textured groove make for a lovely first act. As atmospheres evolve, distinctive stabs steal the air, before a massive break takes you further into a haze of funky psychedelic audio euphoria, perfectly setting up a groovy finale to close out this masterpiece. A brilliant remix from Freudenthal that is destined for the sets of the big boy brigade. Highly recommended.

Our compilation release is a special occasion for us to showcase new names producing hot art but also old and well known friends from the label, and this year’s V.A. is certainly not an exemption. A sinister, and dancy whole.

The release is packed with mysterious vibes served by ANGE, Iba Boö delivering some masterfully crafted metallic voices, slow paced grooves by Robsn or a faster cadence proposed by Karla Lynch. Eklektique takes us on an adventurous trip.
We are very happy to have once again on the party Roliva with a tune full of Rock and Roll spirit and delightfully treated voices as well as Leonor and its mental proposal full of melodic jewels as usual.

Iba Boo - Black Butterfly [HEARec]

There are some characters and labels so intertwined with the story of specific music genres that is virtually impossible to discuss them without mentioning the importance and relevance of such masterminds and imprints. Take the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene for instance. We dare you to talk about it without bringing up Sir Neil Parnell aka Tronik Youth (SXDNS050) and his mighty platform NEIN Records during your music talks.

With a behemoth of a catalogue overflowing with dark cuts, NEIN is undoubtedly one of the most vital outlets in the dark side of music. Neil is equally impressive, distilling his creativity with a plethora of originals and collaborations throughout his career of twenty-something years. Having a NEIN-only year so far, he brings to life his third EP of the year and invited Fred Berthet and Calystarr for the remix duties. Premiered here, the latter’s contribution.

Adrián Peña Sánchez aka Calystarr is a DJ and producer from Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz. For his third appearance on NEIN, his mission of providing an interpretation for the big boss must have been a tough one – but nothing that would make the skilled Spanish virtuoso have cold feet. His complex and stark version brings together a few of his main influences, resulting in an intricate concoction of Cold Wave, EBM, and Industrial with a kind of spooky aura.

Eclectics, heterodox, energetics bus most of all Iberians. They are Gameboyz - the Spanish duet formed by Charlie (Carlos Franco) and Kali (Luis Vallespín) - two producers like two volcanos erupting. They are recognized because they are always looking to the future searching inspiration into the past. As a result they have published “Carne de Puerca”, “El Calor del Foco” or “Mucho Danger”. 

Their Live Acts are full of synths, vocals and effects and their adaptability is well known by their audience. Gameboyz was born in 2012 along with Da Well (Manuel Maidero) and they have played in several clubs as Apolo, Lanna Club, Razzmatazz, Siroco or La3.

They have also founded Melómana Records, their private sanctuary where they have published Alejandro Paz, Damon Jee, Stockholm Syndrome, Tronik Youth among others.
