The next mix in our Friends & Family series comes from the head of Barcelona's hottest dance music distributor and record store; Subwax.
Baldo has been at the forefront of club records in the Spanish capital for many years starting in Subwax under the faithful hand of Jimi Disko in 2013 going on to take-over the company entirely in 2020. In recent years Subwax has started to focus mainly on dealing with labels under tech, deep and garage house sounds from the likes of some our favourites Limosine Dream, Mindhelmet, Sunset Drifters & Spaziotempo to only name but a few but the quality list very much goes on & on.
Baldo also handles many of his own imprints through the illusive distro, Physical Education, Curated By Time and BLD Tape Recordings. His thought provoking productions have also seen him appear on Gerd Janson's Running Back as well as Unknown to the Unknown's rave ready E-Beamz off-shoot! We are delighted to have Baldo on our F&F series where he is showcasing plenty of what has come and gone and what will come to be on the distro that he has dedicated his career to. @baldo

Ahead of their 6th Birthday showcase this Saturday night in Room 2, we’ve unlocked this special set from our vaults. Taken from the last time label heads Harry McCanna, Sam Bangura and Dale Mussington took to our decks for their momentous birthday B2B2B in 2022. Expect a trip through floaty house, elevated bangers, sonic surprises and tech-house-driven treats. All ingredients for the perfect summer party.

Two old friends of NorthSouth are leading this year’s celebrations; Lamache makes his debut with NS after many years sharing dance floors, as well as Ron Obvious, who played live at NorthSouth’s first birthday at the Lion & Lamb back in 2018.

All that plus Cobblestone Jazz are live in Room 1 with Z@P for his fabric debut, and beloved local talent Georgia to round us off.

"Devotion is the main aim—to try to encourage commitment in people." The fabric resident and Houghton festival founder discusses his love of the crowd, DJing and more.

Craig Richards, arguably one of UK dance music's most respected DJs, is normally averse to the spotlight. But the multi-hyphenate artist and fabric resident has played the London institution every Saturday for nearly two decades, DJing alongside fellow household names like Ricardo Villalobos and Nicolas Lutz. Over the years, Richards has profoundly shaped the canon that's defined the space and its programming week in and week out.

He’s keenly attuned to other DJs and the flow of a night, and he's not indebted to one particular style or genre. In a Resident Advisor feature from 2019, Ray Philp described his sound as "intergalactic space metal" that goes far beyond techno, house or electro, instead interplaying classics with deep, headsy tunes that he tirelessly seeks out every week.

In this interview with RA's European deputy editor Carlos Hawthorn, Richards talks about what makes a good record, and the DJ's role as a bridge between the past and present. He also discusses his endeavours beyond the booth—most notably the idyllic festival he started in 2017, Houghton, which is set in the English countryside—and his passion for painting and cross-disciplinary creativity. My live recording - A wonderful 1.5hrs of music played in the Alchemist Tent at Subsonic. Can i take a moment to describe the sound system in this tent. Nothing short of absolutely incredible. Quite possibly the most beautiful sound i have ever heard & the most exquisite looking to the eye. A huge storm rolled in during the last 10 minutes of my set that cut the power. There was an abrupt & unfortunate conclusion at the time so i included one more track and joined together in original mix. Shout outs to Tim Reeves for the booking, you, Emily & the team did an amazing job with the decor.
