Although it may sometimes seem like it is in short supply, hip hop culture has always had elements that revolved around and promoted powerful positivity.  In Detroit, Michigan that spirit is coming back, in part thanks to the work of The Ghetto Nerd.  The Ghetto Nerd recently announced a November 2016 release date for his new EP “#Parent|HOOD” and hip hop fans couldn't he happier.

Fans of positive hip hop, or of music with an uplifting message in general, have a good reason to be excited.  Big things are happening in Detroit, MI and all signs are pointing towards it picking up steam and continuing to grow.  Enter Strait City Productions & Publishing and their lead artist, who is also the founder of the independent label, B. Van Randall better known as The Ghetto Nerd.  The Ghetto Nerd has been blazing new ground in positive, family friendly hip hop that showcases his many strengths as an MC and lyricist, over beats that would make any hip hop fan smile.  Moving from success to success, The Ghetto Nerd recently announced a November 15th, 2016 release date for his new EP  “#Parent|HOOD”, which is being hailed as his finest work yet.  Eight original songs featuring production from the city's hottest producers and every song taking a look at being a parent from a different positive angle.  In a time dripping with negativity at every turn, The Ghetto Nerd is stepping up to fill a very big void.  The first single off of “#Parent|HOOD”, “Baby Using the Bathroom (The Potty Training Anthem '16)” has already dropped and can be previewed on SoundCloud and purchased through Google Play and iTunes. 

“I am an artist,” commented the multifaceted Detroit MC about his latest work.  “I paint and create with words.  Whether it is through writing for screen, stage or music I escape through the words I write.  I am also a father.  One of the most proud parts of my life.  This project has allowed me to bring my two passions together.  Being an artist and being a dad.  I just hope that other parents can relate to it.”

Hip hop media and fans have compared The Ghetto Nerd's style and flavor to the best of early Will Smith, Slick Rick or Run DMC on one hand and more recent artists such as Pitbull, FLO-RIDA and Kanye West on the other.  More studio work and live sets are planned for 2017, which many insiders believe will be The Ghetto Nerd's year to shine and be recognized on a much greater level.  “#Parent|HOOD” is proof that The Ghetto Nerd delivers what he promises both as an artist and as a man.
