Decided to upload a couple of demos, seeing as finishing music is pretty hard to come by these days. Got a couple tracks that haven't seen the light of day yet and this is one of them.

Living With Discord ( demo )

Demo of a song I wrote with my friend Alan. Just something that came about at work that we would hum back and forth until finally I decided to actually record it. One of the last songs Jon played guitar for. His part really beefed up the whole song. I even found a way to finally get the Amen Break into a song too, so there's that going for it as well. It's a throwaway song, but it's fun to listen to.

Don't Say Nuthin' ( demo )

So here's a song I wrote with my last band that we'd been in studio hammering out and never finished. It sat on a shelf for a couple years until I picked it up and decided to rework it. I haven't gotten around to recording vocals for it yet, because quite frankly, the idea I have is incredibly daunting, but I'm getting around to it soon. I figured I could slow release this instrumental version as a sort of look-what-it's almost-going-to-be-when-it's-finished version. Again, one of the last Jon-plays-guitar songs.

So here's the backstory, because I feel it needs it. This song is a joke. Well, not so much a joke, more like sarcasm. This song was written for the thousands of stupid people that think moving to Cali will automatically make their lives better, and even if it doesn't, Hey Cali!!! Am I right? ... No, stupid, you're not right. You're very much not right at all. So I purposefully wrote the most insipid, vacuous, shallow, self-serving lyrics for this track, and then sung them in a very straightforward, honest, no-sarcasm-here way. Let's get one thing straight. Moving to Cali will not make  your life any better any more than any other place. It's just a place, that's all. And for any sharp-eared listeners out there that say 'hey, you totally ripped off Tupac's California Love in that one spot', I say to you, yes. Yes I did. And the beat at the end is ripped from A Tribe Called Quest's song Award Tour. And the beat in the middle came from another band's song. I'm really just begging to be sued.

Quick track, written and recorded over the course of a week. If I'd known it'd come together that fast every time, I'm fairly certain I'd have a lot more music out.

Mixed by the indomitable Joe Mays, mainly because he offered. Also because he's pretty damn good at it.
