Lesane Parish Crooks, known to the world as Tupac Shakur was died 15 years ago today aged just 25 after being shot in Las Vegas six days before. I never quite 'got it' at the time as what I perceived as his overt violence put me off. Time does sometimes gloss over our faults but the more I have listened to Tupac the more I see the human being underneath the gangsta rap persona. Both tracks featured are posthumous Tupac releases.  

I hadn't intended on releasing  but as today is the anniversary I thought it appropriate
It's a basic cut and paste job using:

A remix of Rock/Dance CellDweller ("a hybrid fusion of aggressive electronic music combined with orchestral and rock influences") who let morons like me download stems and add beats n' tweaks. It has a deliberate 80's drum sound in the intro, just don't ask me why. All I wanted was something that was banging!

I hope to edit this down soon as I'm not happy with it as it is, especially the sound levels.This was one I never got back to but having listened again I just might do that sooner rather than later.

This really, really pissed me off as the file went corrupt and I have had to go back and start again after two years of work! It's simply Robert Miles Children with loads of audio samples. It is meant to be listened to in stereo so you get the full effect of the explosions and voices of peace and war. I am going to finish this one but I have to track down all the samples all over again :(

It was my very first mash up and it has a message which is summed up beautifully by Bill Hicks 'It's Just a Ride' which I let run almost in full. The end is a very young child responding to a bird singing. It is that simplicity of vision that I hoped to capture, especially as my technical skills were lacking when I started. I may make my own tune to this, who knows?

I hope it captures the reality of war, that no matter where you live in this world, no what we are told, war is an affront to humanity and always will be. It is not a necessary evil. It is Evil. As Martin Luther King has said we are ALL brothers (& sisters of course). When you allow politicians to see others as different you strip your brothers and sisters of their humanity.

I wanted to do a fitting tribute with hip-hop as I believe it should be – voices of struggle and freedom rising above the oppression. Voices that come from the heart and soul where we are all one blood, united through our diversity in the great struggle to free. This is the aural hip-hop version of mind blowing sex as opposed to modern hip hop’s equivalent of a lyrical wank in the bathroom. Listen on the radio to the lyrics of a modern hip-hop track and then ‘Behold the Revolutionist’ and you’ll see a bit world of difference. 

He was also the voice of 8-Ball in Grand Theft Auto

I like making stuff, mashing many things with the express purpose of spreading Laughter and Love. I work on a subliminal and subversive level because I have maniacal delusions brought on by an allergy to the world of light - hey I'm Ginger I know it's power!

After much soul searching and relentless, failed efforts to take over the world GingerZilla took a breath and inhaled. In that Divine moment of clarity the path illuminated before him. He realised that progress is not made in great leaps, but by increments, moments in time that must be seized and nurtured. Music is Freedom not Slavery. Rhythm connects us all. 

With that breath, a germ grew which blossomed to become the first stage of his aural assault on a music world busy digesting the Music of the Dark Lords. For this reason he is fervently opposed to most music on spiritual grounds as it deeply affects his .  

...however...

...despite his hostility, negative forces must be resisted with love so the GingerZilla is quite willing to listen to anything. For this reason he believes that mashups (a.k.a. bootlegs/bastard pop) may save the world by extricating the faecal matter from pop music and making even the most banal and insipid music eminently listenable and pant wettingly funny. He is at War with Beliebers and wants to convert them with a ripple effect of mash ups continuing the work of the Prophet Bill Hicks.

Freedom is nothing afterall if you can't have some fun.
