Good Stock Records is delighted to announce the digital release of “Remote” by The Goodstock Project. This is an EP collecting together the Lockdown 2020 (remotely live) performances; polished, audio enhanced & made complete in this 6-track release.

During lockdown 2020, this project started as a remote collaboration, the sound of which soon started to make a mockery of the recording methods – the perched iPhone of much folklore being the drum foundation, the rest of the tracks were built to that weeks and weeks and many miles apart.

The big coup here is the vocal work of June Holland who, at the time she started recording the vocals, had never met the rest of the group, but musical chemistry voodoo magic happened and the results are for all to hear.

All of the original live parts were videoed by each band member and spliced together to show the performance as you hear it and see it, however the additional parts have since been written and recorded and the audio mixed, mastered and made large by Good Stock Record’s favourite engineer – Speaks, esq.

This song describes the moment when you're surprised by feeling hope, joy, happiness. Feeling the warm after some time in the cold. Seeing light after being in the dark. Verses 1-3 are first person narrative. Verses 4, 5 and the "Everythings" are the original narrator receiving the wisdom of their predecessors - the secret, the “Everything I Need To Know”.

Royal Pontoon

The inspiration behind "Just Don’t Stop" couldn’t be more quintessentially British! One evening, as Goodstock Project lead singer, June, sat watching Celebrity Gogglebox with a cup of tea, she saw Bez from Happy Mondays wearing sunglasses indoors, watching TV with Shaun Ryder. When Shaun asked, “Did you get any sleep at Glasto? You're a sixty-year-old bloke who's been to Glastonbury.” Bez shared the secret to his youthful energy: “Just don’t stop”. He explained that people his age tend to slow down and grow old, so the trick is to keep going!

That mantra, the idea that energy and youth are sustained by simply refusing to slow down, became the heartbeat of this song. "Just Don’t Stop" is all about defying the usual aging process and embracing the idea that you’re only as young as you feel. This track is a high-energy anthem for anyone who refuses to let age dictate their spirit.

The Goodstock Project are an indie rock band with soul. They had so much fun covering “Bring It On Home To Me” by Sam Cooke that they decided to have a go at another great song by another great artist - "These Arms of Mine" by Otis Redding. The track was actually suggested to them by a follower on social media who thought June’s voice would be perfect for it. Ben relayed this idea to June via the band’s WhatsApp group, and June replied by way of a voice note in which she sang the chorus to the rest of the band. They were sold at that moment.

The Goodstock Project are an indie rock band with soul. In between writing songs, we like to challenge ourselves by picking a giant soul tune to cover.

So, following “Bring It On Home To Me” by Sam Cooke and “These Arms of Mine” by Otis Redding, we convened at our favourite beer and tapas meeting spot, Dimitri’s in Manchester, to discuss what’s next.

A few songs were mentioned, but one immediately stood out, particularly as June said she’d always wanted to have a crack at it.

So, we are delighted to present our version of the Northern Soul classic, “The Snake” written by Oscar Brown, Jr., but made famous in 1968 by Al Wilson.
