The Endless Seas

The Dry Tear In Your Eye, written and recorded by The Graaf (Alexander Noordegraaf). Home recorded in my "Hayloft-Studio". 

I have experienced people very close to me who have had severe depression and anxiety. I myself have also had the “pleasure” to experience those two. So, for longer time I have wanted to write a song that could express it all. This came together the night before I went to “corona quarantine” myself at my parents house. I was jamming on an acoustic guitar and a riff and lyric-ideas for a new song in the caliber I wished for appeared. I took my electric guitar and recorded 3 tracks with lead- and rhythm guitars. I decided to keep the second track because of its intensity and build the song up around this. I set up a ´hayloft-studio´ at my parent’s house, where I could record drums, bas and vocals. In this dusty attic setting, the song I wished to make took its shape. Having listened to loads of ´dream-pop´ and ´shoegaze´ recently there was no doubt that I wanted a similar sound for this track - ofcourse mixed with my ´grungy´- and ´lo-fi´ influences. My ´hayloft-studio´ could set the perfect ambience and sphere for that wish. Without further ado, here it is ´The Dry Tear In your Eye´.

The Dry Tear In Your Eye

´Please Take her hand´ is an intimate song about a personal experience from my youth combined with a similar recent experiences. The song is the first chaptor of a series of songs with the same musical theme - so stay tunned for the next part(s).

The song is written and recorded by The Graaf, with help in the development process from my good friend and music partner Kasper Høxbroe Jeppesen.

I am a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Copenhagen, Denmark. My mission is to create personal and honest music, that invites the listener to dive into; dreams, nostalgias, passions, acceptance, vibrations, hope, presence, and, last but not least; life!

Besides having this Solo project called The GRAAF, I am also the Drummer of the Copenhagen based rock band called; Raw Umbra (https://www.facebook.com/rawumbra ) and I was part of the duo project called Seven Millimeters  (https://soundcloud.com/user-440242066 ).

My passion is to create music and express my thoughts, experiences, dreams, emotions, past, present, and future within these pieces of art. The creations here on Soundcloud are recorded in my amateur home studio in Copenhagen or in my hay-loft studio on the Island of Bornholm, where I grew up on the rugged countryside. To get as close to a personal expression in the creations as possible, I decided to play all instruments, record, and mix everything all by myself.
 
Alternative rock and metal, Grunge, Post-punk Shoegaze and Dream-pop are the music-genres that mainly “hits me” and inspires me in my own music making. But years of playing classical music on my Accordion and the fact that I have a very broad music taste, influences the music and expressions as well.
