They all have the same thing happening, to my ears. The guitar thing at the first is the most recent of them, and I have no idea why I was hitting the strings so hard, or even what guitar I was using. The second bit is actually combined from two earlier snippets that I thought sounded like the same theme? Gen and I wrote the first piece of it for flute and banjo, sitting outside after a garage sale, and I wish I had a recording of that version.

Paradise Lost

I've had this simple guitar line that I've been playing around with for the last few months.  Key of A seems to be the most natural for me playing.  I got around to recording last weekend, just the main line and some additional guitar lines over that.  Spend last weekend and this working on arranging and mixing.  To me, it sounds triumphant, but life can be that way sometimes.  Not often but sometimes.

A Waltz for New Arrivals

This track was written using my prompt-based 'Polka Poker' aleatory method. 

Many of the original prompts in this track are present, but there's a fair amount of creative license used to make it all work together too. Like the lead guitar being quite dynamic in the mix instead of just 'quiet'. But these prompts were never intended to be hard and fast rules but creative aids to encourage and inspire.

1. A vocal that's happy and organic 
2. A drum beat that's both basic and complex 
3. A bass line that's ordinary and dry 
4. A rhythm guitar part that's loose and slow 
5. A lead guitar that's bright and quiet

Ocean in the Sky (feat. Ronny The Rocket, MidiPunk, Russell & Alex Sinfield)

This track was written using my prompt-based 'Polka Poker' aleatory method and various random lyric generators. 

Although there were six instruments for the taking, only the beat, piano and vocal were ever used in the finished song. The other elements were attempted but it sounded better stripped back it original parts, so I made the decision to keep it simple for the sake of the track.

3. A bass guitar line that both slows down and is hot 
4. A synth pad/chordal pattern that’s dark and borrowed

Shrinky Weather

My old SC mate Micah played drums to test a friend’s recording set, and sent me some cuts full of improvised breaks and tempos. I love time changes, yet this was really challenging!

I finally chose two of them and jammed with bass until I learnt his story telling.
Then, I clicked on the red button, again and again.
