"A few words in the right key will remind me that this life is fucking great.” These words ring true as the epitaph of the four piece from Sydney's South playing honest, hard hitting melodic punk rock. The Great Awake take this positivity and untroubled attitude to the stage with a ferociously enthusiastic live show that’s not to be missed.
 
The band released their debut self-titled ep in 2012 and began making a name for themselves playing every dive bar and venue in Sydney that would have them. But burdened with the incurable and unrelenting ‘wanderlust' sickness it had to end and the band took time off to travel the world and live abroad. 
 
The break did nothing but fuel a desire to get back out there and play, inspiring what was to come next. Returning in early 2014 the guys jumped straight back into the studio to put out their Streets Ahead 7” single and took their live show back on the road. The single gained air play on Triple J’s Short.Fast.Loud and community stations around Australia setting The Great Awake up to kick things up a notch.
 
The last year has seen international supports with Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Hawthorne heights and most recently with Fat Wreck Chords own Good Riddance at Sydney's Manning Bar. 
Taking their live show from Sydney to Newcastle, Wollongong and the A.C.T the boys have shared the stage with a slew of Aussie bands including Kisschasy and Luca Brasi to name but a few.
 
As if the year wasn’t busy enough The Great Awake spent every free minute in the studio at The Lockup (now Def Wolf Studios) with Daniel Antix working on their debut LP 'Reasons For Leaving.' Heavily influenced by their love of travel and all things positive the LP is set for release early 2016.
