New Year's Eve is the second single released by the Greyhound Factory on 10th December 2018.

"Someday" is the third self-released single by The Greyhound Factory, out on Monday 8th April 2019. This single follows on from their previous release "New Year's Eve" in December 2018 - A track which earnt them a spot on BandRec's Top Indie Bands of 2018 as well as the You Haven't Heard This Music podcast's track of the week. 

"Someday" has already seen support from BBC Introducing with Tom Simkins saying:  “Really great musical blend of americana-indie-rock, almost Gin Blossoms-esque. It’s a really great sound, I’m a big, big fan.”

While "New Year's Eve" ticked the boxes of an indie-pop-rock track and drew on the groups inspiration from The Cure and Elvis Costello, "Someday" leans towards their appreciation of Americana, particularly Sprinsteen's "Badlands" album. "Someday" is a track about being unable to escape from what you can't control.

This is the latest single release by The Greyhound Factory - independently released on Monday 27th January 2020.

"Outside the Frame" was recorded at Headline Studios in Cambridge and mixed and produced by Piers Mortimer (Deep Purple, Jamiroquai band).

The greyhound factory are a rising 4-piece english-americana indie rock band from cambridge/hertford uk, whose sound is reminiscent of 90’s Americana bands but with their roots firmly in everyday pessimistic Englishness.

"Genie and the Gun" is a double shot of fuzzy guitar-driven Glam & Garage Rock - a blend described by Indie Central Music as, "like if Bruce Springsteen drank Earl Grey". The Greyhound Factory certainly give off a few bold notes of Americana, but hailing from Cambridge UK, they're definitely more Custard Cream than Oreo Cookie what with accompanying lyrics like, "how the hell can I stay so bloody high". Working with renowned producer, Piers Mortimer (Deep Purple, Jamiroquai) to conjure a more 2020 sounding T-Rextasy, the track embodies the groups' playful, mischievous side offering a natural caffeine hit to your fuzzy early morning.

Genie And The Gun

English-Americana outfit The Greyhound Factory, release their third single of 2020 - ‘Someday’ - an affectionate tale of loss told through the eyes of the owner of the last Blockbuster Video store.  

Previously described as "like if Bruce Springsteen drank Earl Grey", the band continues their English approach to the Americana scene with the release of Someday on 29th June.

With more emotive tones than on previous singles, the lyrics reel in and out of a coming-of-age narrative but still with a pulsating 120bpm, orchestrated guitar parts and nod to everyday pessimistic English life - this time in reference to old video shops. The artwork is even inspired by a haunting derelict video store that still remains in a secluded street in Cambridge.

Working with renowned producer, Piers Mortimer (Deep Purple, Jamiroquai) to create a more 2020 sounding Tom Petty, this is the third in a series of five singles by TGF in 2020 after their previous releases, Outside the Frame and Genie and the Gun.

The Greyhound Factory - Someday

English-Americana outfit The Greyhound Factory, release their fourth single of 2020 - “New Year’s Eve” - A reluctantly festive indie track.

The band have likened “New Year’s Eve” to a leopard-skin fleece - loud and garish on the outside, but fuzzy and huggable on the inside. Dancing somewhere between The Cure and Tom Petty, the indie track tells the story of a dull New Year’s party that’s more like Groundhog Day. 

With their influences, The Greyhound Factory have always sourced their musical ingredients from Americana. But, hailing from Cambridge UK and with their roots in everyday pessimistic Englishness, they’re definitely more bakewell tart than oreo cookie, with Indie Central Music previously describing them as "like if Bruce Springsteen drank Earl Grey". 

The track was recorded by renowned producer, Piers Mortimer (Deep Purple, Jamiroquai) to attempt to conjure a playful indie take on cashing in on the festive period. 

TGF Songwriter Ryan said, “We wanted to create a song that was packaged up like an upbeat party song, but really it’s for the person sitting at the back of the room on their GameBoy. And maybe everything is a bit poop for them - like they can’t get any further on Tetris passed the 41st level and then the DJ plays Level 42 and everything is shit!”

“New Year’s Eve” is out on all digital platforms on 7th December 2020.

The Greyhound Factory - New Year's Eve

The Greyhound Factory are an English-Americana powerpop band from Hertford, UK. The band is made up of Ryan Davies (vocals and guitar), Harry Butler (guitar), Dan Munday(bass) and Kevin Carter (drums). They formed in 2016 after coming together from other musical projects and sharing interests in music like Big Star, Edwin Starr and Ringo Starr. They plan to release a series of EP’s recorded in their home studio in 2018, the first of which is to be released in conjunction with a live video recorded at their recent gig at the Pack and Carriage in Camden. The drummer has the best hair.
