Henk Koorn prefers to wear a single pair of gray pants. Elke
van Zevenbergen owns more than one winter coat. Initially,
the duo had no idea they were making a record together. As it
turned out, they did.

Together, Koorn and Van Zevenbergen form The Grey Pants,
a delightfully flimsy, charming lo-fi project that superimposes
the everyday banalities in life into something genuinely moving.
The two deliberately employed a limited set of tools to achieve
this: a rhythm box, a voice and a guitar. Nevertheless, each song
inhabits some very specific characteristics and narratives.
The words ‘autobiographical’ and ‘diary’ are often associated
with baring deep cathartic emotions. Indeed, it’s often the
happiest and unhappiest experiences that cling themselves to
our memories. Life shaping events – at least, that’s what we’d
like to tell ourselves. All that other stuff is supposedly the static
of our day-to-day existence; the little habits and quirks that
epitomize us as individuals.
