Welcome to The Gympie Voice Project, proudly a significant part of the G150 celebrations.  Gympie is 150 years old this year and such longevity deserves recognition at all levels.

On June 16th 2017, approximately 60 people gathered in the auditorium of the Australian Institute of Country Music to create music that celebrated and promoted the cultural and social diversity of Gympie as it is understood a century and a half after the town’s foundation.

The project will was led by staff from the Sydney based Human Sound Project who brought to Gympie experience gained in their running of such projects world wide. By the end of the day, a series of videos were created culminating in a music video featuring the participants of the project singing and moving to the lyrics and music they created.

The resultant song was not only be experienced by the 60 participants in the project.  It is planned to perform the song from the stage during the Gold Rush Festivities, encouraging the crowd to be part of the performance.

We joined Digi Engage 2019, for a practical and inspiring skills-building workshop for young leaders to explore the root causes of divisions in our societies, and to generate creative solutions for empathy and tolerance to triumph over hate and extremism.

On a very smokey day in Sydney caused by the tragic bushfires happening all around us... with temperatures soaring and the bush burning, the Human Sound Project quietly gathered with a crew from Greenpeace Australia Pacific in a building of Australian national significance, the Redfern Community Centre at The Block. It felt especially meaningful being there given it’s symbolism as an Indigenous Australian cultural centre.

The result of our workshop was the an original co-created anthem called “We are the re-generation”. The chorus of the song captures it’s message perfectly “We are the re-generation. We can, move in the right direction” - in this climate emergency, it is up to our generation to take action and regenerate the natural environment.

We were invited by Cumberland Council to celebrate The International Day of People with Disability where participants gathered together and collaboratively created a song called "Always better when it's me and you" about all the things that they love to do and bring them joy in life.

Everyone had a great time singing, dancing, and expressing their unique voices. We loved to see the participants embrace the experience and show what an amazing tool music can be in bringing out hidden talents and abilities.
