Tower control this is Captain Pain... 
no gain. 

The nuts and bolts have gone.

Yes, though we'd see the Sun 
this is no longer fun. 

The ashes, I'd inhale. 
My face has turned so pale. 
wished on the air I'd sail. 
But now a fairy tale. 

I'll find it piece-by-piece. 
My effort to find peace.

This is not a drill.

Singing, singing out of tune. 
Summer, summer, summer. 
Summer, start of June. 

Pilot wants to be ejected. 

I know that this would crash. 
I know, not gonna last. 
Went up, up in too fast. 
Building a bitter past. 
And all I see are red.

Tower control, we are airborne. 
The engines are humming beyond normal. 
When everything is going like how we intended to go. 
My God, we’re ascending. 
We’re believing we’re ascending. 
Still we see ourselves. We’re flying. 
Though, no pilots — we’re pretending. 

Above the clouds, 
we’ll never see what’s underneath us. 
We’re flying high above the sky. 
Convinced ourselves we will not die. 
The gauges seem to be telling… 
so tell me now if we’re falling. 

The altitude pressure is increasing. 
Pilot number-two, why are you sleeping? 
This is not the place. This is not the time. 
You’re dosing! Let me hear you say… ‘pray you don’t delay… 

waking up above the clouds. 
Wakening, the engine sounds. 
I’ll take your place but have no grounds. 
Take your place above the clouds. 

Dosing off! 
Shutting off! 

Falling downwards. 
Let me see the gauges. 
Feeling like falling for ages. 
Ripping-out the manual’s pages. 
Leaving what our instincts chooses. 
Making serial excuses.

We’re not gonna stop. No way. 
Pilot number-three signing in. 
Pilot number-two, where you’ve been? 
Pilot number-one is ready here. 
Tower control, do you copy there? 
I think we’re ready to go there. 
(The destination is: nowhere!) 

On the right and on the left. 
Oh God, I can’t believe we’re going, going steady now. 
I can’t believe that this would fly. 
I don’t think this is steady, steady, steady, now. 
Match it with some ignorance. 
Gotta think quick. Gotta, gotta, gotta hurry now. 
Well, I don’t believe that this would fly. 

But here we go. 
We’re gaining altitude with this attitude.

Sanity on the tarmac. 
Insanity in the cockpit. 
Careful now with the controls. 
We’re flying here, a bunch of oddballs. 
I’m sweating now. Where is the blackbox? 
I wasn’t born in The Hard Knox.

An overloaded capacity. 
This plane ain’t big enough for the three of us. 

This jet is only made for two.

There’s only two seats inside

and not what’s left but then, who knew?

Altitude Check (3GGRD Broadcast Version)

Some lines may not be an accurate thought-for-thought interpretation of the original Japanese version. I cannot seem to find any lyrics on the web. I tried to do my best extracting the Japanese lyrics from the music video itself in to Romaji and then used Google Translate to render them in Japanese characters and then finally to English phrases. (My Nihonggo proficiency could barely pass N5 in the JLPT, my options are limited.)

I then tried my best to ball-up the song in to one whole idea based on what I was able to translate and also on some interviews posted online on trolleattroll's project background (Kaneko facing adulthood and not being so sure/sort of "scared" about it). I came up with the working lyrics from there while still trying to be as accurate as I can be with the interpretation where I think I am able to.

Production details: transposed one semitone above original key for range convenience (still hard to sing because of the style I was aiming for); extended some parts because why not (it's essentially EDM); used pitch correction because not a very good singer; SM58 through a Scarlet Solo on vocals; FLStudio x Reaper for the production cocktail. I need to buy better studio monitors. It's a "reimagining". A lot of things are intentionally different — even the title.
