In a time where there is an acute increase in social and political awareness due to things happening in America and the world at large, theIdea is presenting you with a thought: "We won't rush, take our time, build our dreams..." While get rich schemes and fast money plans come and fade, smart work and perseverance gets concrete and sound results eventually.

theIdea is Brooklyn veteran emcee Wordsworth (MTV's Lyricist Lounge alumn, EMC), Va/Philly emcee/singer Range da Messenga, Va/Philly producer/engineer/dj "Robot Scott" Carter (Walkthesky/Triangle Park Music), Philly songstress, lyricist Jacqueline Constance, and Washington Heights (NYC) emcee/vocalist Pearl Gates

The unit was formed in late spring of 2013 with the intention of bringing a creative talent pool together to make music that can be highly relatable to the general working class public in a time when music is losing general relatability and lacks substance that hip hop was founded. Their music is reminiscent of revolutionary groups that have come before them (the Fugees, A Tribe Called Quest, Outkast) while having a strong sense of progressive individuality entirely of their own. Hip Hop was once a very diverse genre in the mainstream. The collective goal is to bring back the diversity in subject matter and even in the approach to delivering the art form that is hip hop, for common consumption. theIdea has come to return you to the roots of what rap once meant to the urban community.
