We’re very pleased to present the next Seven Hills Digest, this time from Welsh-born, Bristol-based DJ and Red Wax Records head R.E.D!

I recently attended fitf this summer, a relatively new festival near the Welsh border and was immediately struck by the uniqueness of the mix Sophie had recorded for them. After a long drive down the M1 listening to it we knew for sure she’d be one to watch, and weren't disappointed as her set was some of the best music of the weekend. It was refreshing to hear a style of dance music completely untouched by any traces of cliche, tired tropes, or overly rehashed ideas. 

Each of Sophie’s selections have something otherworldly about them, as if they’ve been summoned especially for that moment out of thin air only to dissipate moments later, leaving you wondering whether you’d heard something quite like it before. Interesting rhythms, oddball sounds and a cohesive atmosphere of general weirdness are all things you should expect to hear from one of her mixes.

She’s one of a number of DJ’s who have you scratching your head wondering what you’re listening to while thoroughly enjoying it, and I’m grateful to her for contributing her very first all vinyl mix for us to publish.

Next on our podcast series is our dear friend Jos (@jos-productions). We met eachother back in the days in London and since then we kept talking, sharing music and ideas. Through out the years, Jos achieved his dream to play music around the world sharing his love for music with people. He also founded Eya Records, which is by far one of the most respected labels in the undeground music scene. 

With this recording, Jos is showcasing his current mood during his dj sets. Dancefloor oriented, with different genres, ranging from eletro dub to acid and progressive techno.
