The Institute of Modern Love was formed in 2009 as a conscious reaction against the decline of the LP format, and the music ADHD suffered by the average listener.

Openly self-indulgent and steeped in disquieting atmosphere, the aim is to revive the art of the 70s concept album, gatefold sleeve and all. The Institute concept plays out the narrative of a shadowy organization in the business of manipulation and mind control, hidden behind a thin veil of friendly support.

In the absence of brave investors, The Institute set about self-producing 'Welcome to The Institute of Modern Love', Part 1 of their 3 part concept album, with mixing taken care of by producer Matt Hyde (Bullet for my Valentine, Trivium). The result is a truly unique sounding opus, like a 70s rock band stuck in the body of a disillusioned modern businessman. The voice of The Institute comes courtesy of haunting female narration track, weaving its way through the ebb and flow of the music.
