This was a laid back adaption to an original tune. Its very energetic when we do it live so we decided to try it a different way for the studio.

One of our favorite covers to perform written by the great Wayne Shorter. Again we changed the feel on it as we often do.

Footprints

This is the trio's version of a song that was very popular off my first solo album a few years back. The original had a R&B feel to it and this one has more of a jazz sound to it. I decided to record the vocals as opposed to turning it into an instrumental for the band.

Stretching out on acoustic guitar on this tune. I was really feeling it and the guys as always put some fire up under my solos. Sounds like I'm playing a piccolo bass. :-)

We love Michael Jackson as many of you do as well so we had to include a clip of one our favorite songs by the King of Pop. My vocals were ok that night but I love the way my guitar sounded. 

Lady In My Life

The group consists of drummer, Elijah Gilmore, who has a shared the stage and performed with a who’s who array of artists from the Average White Band, Najee  and Wayman Tisdale to P Diddy, OutKast and Gerald Levert to name a few. When he isn’t performing with the trio he tours with Heads UP / Concord Records recording artist Joe McBride. Newcomer to the band, Larry Harris, Jr. on keyboards. and is rounded off by Alvin Frazier, who is an internationally known recording artist in his own right whose latest release “A Wonderful Love” rose from #26 to #2 on the UK Soul Chart last year who functions as the group’s founder, leader and frontman playing bass, guitar & providing vocals.  With their soulful, yet classical jazz sound the tapestry of these three gentlemen embodies the essence of sophisticated musicianship while captivating your senses.

Embracing various genres including Gospel, Blues, R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, Rock, Folk and of course Jazz. The camaraderie of the band’s members undoubtedly heightens their level of diversity in style and skill.  The broad range of musical experiences brought by each, have been instrumental in creating the trio’s signature sound together with their spiritual intuition and sensitivity to whatever the composition is at hand. Anchored in this vast musical heritage , The joshua Trio’s influences range from the likes of Return to Forever, The Pat Metheny Group, The Crusaders, Steely Dan, The Roots, Soulive, James Brown, Miles Davis, The Yellowjackets, Bobby McFerrin, The Robert Glasper Experiement, Sting  and Fourplay and many more.

Characterized by a remarkable sound and incredible energy, The joshua Trio has wowed audiences at some of the most renowned venues in the Midwest and the world.  Venues such as the House of Blues, Nighttown (Cleveland), Baker’s Keyboard Lounge (Detroit), Little E’s Jazz Club (Pittsburgh) & the Sugar Bar (New York).  Their versatility as a band allows them to transition seamlessly from high-powered straight-ahead Jazz to Fusion, Blues, Funk, Soul, Brazilian or Folk music. This band is truly in a class by themselves.  The trio is currently in the planning stages of recording their full-length Eastbrook Music debut release in 2014.
