Our last collected cast for this year comes with a bunch of deep and melodic down tempo sounds. Nico is an absolute expert in creating powerfull DJ sets. Through his work with his own label @katahaifisch, he has a big pool of inspiring artists and tracks wich he always use thoughtful and careful. 

We´re very happy to welcome Nico in our little podcast family.

We´ll also want to say thank you guys for you loyalty and your support during the last year. We´ll be back soon in january with some great new acts!

We've been following the sound of our next guest for quite a while, so we're all the happier to welcome him to our down.cast series today. 

We're talking about @varuu, who weaves tracks together in his very own way, taking the listener on a wondrous journey.

When he's not behind the decks, he also acts as an organizer, for example with his new monthly event series Paradise Garage. We wish you lots of fun with the next 90 minutes of downtempo music.

@aka_tony is known to play downtempo, slow house and slow techno, mixed with disco appeal and an 80’s attitude. 

Besides his Aka-Tony project, Tony runs his own podcast series @aka-tapes and @loveislove2021. Since 2020 he is also curating the “I am Boho” and “Down to Earth” podcasts for @planetibiza. Last but not least, he also plays a regular slot on radio GDS.FM Zurich.

Last night I had a piece of foreign matter in my foot that prevented me from sleeping. That was the reason why I sat down in the studio and played some music while I waited for the emergency doctors to open. Luckily I pressed the record button. Would have been a shame if I hadn't. And yeah, the foot is better again.

Awwwww, get ready to be baptized by a tsunami of depth, creative-heart-power & L-O-V-E from BeYond co-founder Narfux:  it's her epic Friday night set on the Saga Floor at Bucht der Träumer 2022...whoooosh!

When the music tickles a deep longing in your heart, awakens your lust for being alive, creates a kaleidoscope of imagination & seduction, animating both the inner-children that need to play, and the ancient-wise ones that know we need to dance to feel human:  it's not JUST about the music.  

It's the reflection of the vibrant soul behind the decks:  they are infusing the heart of the dance-floor with their love and life-force...and anyone who has been baptized by Narfux's beats and been embraced by her presence knows exactly how this love-shower feels like:  like warm rain in August, like cheeky fairy-spirits dancing inter-dimensionally, like green moss beckoning you into a cuddle-puddle of love and tenderness.

With so much gratitude to the raver-gods-of-Berlin for allowing us to drink from her nectar. Enjoy the journey, and keep on coming back for more (as we all do).

"Ooops, I forgot to press the record button. Luckily I saved my set order and can re-record and try touch upon that special moment from the Saga floor at Bucht Friday night.

I want to say a huge heart felt thank you to all of you that joined me on this journey, with a bumpy start in technics you all stood patiently in trust with me, allowing me to be vulnerable in my human-ness, supporting the natural ways of imperfection and then celebrating with so much love and togetherness. Through acceptance, we find freedom, out of acceptance, we find growth. 

You all ignite my heart deeper and deeper into Love and Gratitude."

BeYond with Narfux | 14 @ Bucht der Träumer 2022

It was late August and still the unprecedented drought (which started back in June) showed no signs of ending.  In the witch’s forest several wells had dried up and some trees were even shedding their brown leaves.  Many herbs, animals and insects had died because of a lack of water.  It was a very tough summer for the forest dwellers.  But on that day Hekske (the little witch), Falke (the 10-year old witch apprentice) and Lalita (the Asian tree nymph) decided it was time for action and started the preparations for a rain dance.  But just as they were about to shuck off their clothes and start dancing, Bob The Owl landed on Hekske’s hand.  He had an urgent message to convey, as a visitor had just entered the forest.  And he was not human, which is why the guard animals didn’t chase him away (like they always do with human intruders).  Hekske told Bob to show their guest the way.  And 15 minutes later, the girls welcomed their guest.  He was obviously a wizard, as he was wearing a long black cloak.  He looked very young, just a teenager.  His shiny skin was soft and pale, in contrast with his black hair and mesmerizing black eyes.  He was obviously very shy, as it was the first time he ever saw a witch or nymph.  Lalita immediately prepared oriental herbal tea to welcome their guest.  A little later, they all sat down in a circle on the soft moss and introduced themselves while sipping tea.  The boy appeared to be only 13 years of age and he came from the area of Mount Damavand on the southern side of the Caspian sea.  He introduced himself as Esfandiar (اسفنديار,) - a Persian name which means ‘pure creation’.  The little witch got very curious as she had never met a witch or wizard from that part of the globe.  Then she asked whether he knew a magic spell to make rain.
At first the young wizard was clueless, but then he suddenly remembered the small flacon which an old Persian leopard had given him back in the Caspian Hyrcanian forest.  He took the small bottle in his hand and sensed the energy.  Esfandiar felt that this mysterious liquid could bring a solution, but the leopard hadn’t explained how to use it.
Then the young wizard took his magic wand.  It was made from a special kind of wood from the Caspian Hyrcanian forest and looked very unusual.  It also felt very unusual.  Falke was surprised how soft the wood was, while in complete contrast Hekske found it unusually hard, despite touching exactly the same area of the stick.  So this fascinating wand was soft and hard at the same time.  The girls had never felt such a thing.  Then Esfandiar’s attention turned back to the little flacon.  He sensed that it was time to open it.  All she girls could smell the powerful fragrance … a delicate mix of zaaferon (saffron), golpar (persian hogweed) and zardchoobeh (turmeric).  Then the young wizard let one drop fall on the ground.  It immediately produced a small white cloud.  Then Esfandiar got an idea. He poured the remaining liquid on his magic wand, which he pointed towards the sky.  For a few seconds nothing happened but then all of a sudden the wand took off and flew straight into the sky with a loud hissing sound, like a rocket.  Finally it exploded into a large white cloud high in the sky.  Within seconds, there was the rumbling sound of thunder while the cloud grew bigger and darker…

@arkadiusz-dmytrow mix comes with an enchanting entrance. Mystical and dreamy and a good amount of cool artistry mixed together. 

It feels like driving a fluffy bike through winter scenarios passing empty streets and flickering lights jumping between skylines. Deep and driven on one hand. Psychedelic and etheric on the other other. A lovely conjunction between two sides of the same coin. Certain tracks have been especially modified and slowed down for this mix to give the experience a more profound touch.

Arkadiusz, the founder of @afterhour-sounds, manages to lure you into a journey made of slow dreams and gentle visions. Steering the wheel slowly into a mixture of breakbeat and uplifting sounds to land the spaceship where it belongs: between your cheeks as a warm and cozy smile in cold winter days. Something happened. What it is might stay a mystery but you will remember it within your body. It's music embodied through soul.

Magician On Duty (https://soundcloud.com/magicianonduty) presents Afterhour Sounds Podcast Nr. 254

After a short trip to snowy and cosy Stuttgart to picao, the desire for sun and sea has grabbed us... . 

So today we welcome you from Florida's pearl Miami. There, of course, we had to meet Adrian aka Magician On Duty. A talented artist and manager who also brought attention to our scene in Europe with his original podcast series of the same name (https://soundcloud.com/magicianonduty/sets/journey-series). At least for all those who like organic deep house. In the course of time, Magician On Duty developed further into a label with releases by, for example, https://soundcloud.com/thomas-gaarthuis, https://soundcloud.com/david-hasert and many more. Here, too, the original spirit is preserved.

When we heard the mix for the first time a few days ago, we were a little surprised and speechless at first. Downtempo? Adrian? Basically, we had expected something else, namely his signature sound: Organic Deep House. But the first impression was deceptive. After just a few minutes, he increased the tempo to his usual level. 

His set is an exciting 'afterhours' journey into the thicket of melodic and hypnotic electronic music. In over three hours of music, he has packed in pretty much everything he has in the way of tools and hidden gems to make this mix a special one. Enriched with instrumental and vocal passages like the classic "I can't get no sleep" by Faithless, he even gives the recording a feeling of being at home and nostalgia. Alongside all the positivity, however, he doesn't forget to implement a fair amount of depth into his set. Thus, he daringly but skilfully keeps the balance between lightness and ecstasy. All in all, the mix has become an absolute cream puff, which we definitely don't want to miss anymore: Namely timeless, individual and with a lot of love for detail.

If afterhour sounds, then here. Although, the mix really does suit any time of day or night.

Besides the mix, we didn't miss the chance to ask Adrian a few questions that we don't want to withhold from you.

Q: What are your musical influences? What is your musical background?

A: I liked music since I was a child, it was sort of my refuge... listening to tapes from Michael Jackson, Depeche Mode, Queen and more. I guess I got more exposed to music, in general, while I was breakdancing with my friends. We were listening and training on funk, jazz and hip hop.

Q: What makes a good "afterhour"?

A: The soundtrack to an early morning party can be incredibly powerful, helping to create an atmosphere of excitement and energy. Whether it's downtempo or something more energy driven, the music can help to set the tone for the party and create a sense of unity among those in attendance. 

What makes it good? The ability to connect with everyone around you. That feeling when you look around and everyone is on the same frequency. If we are connected, we are all on the same journey. 

Q: Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set?

I think this is one of my favorite sets that I have recorded, as it has all the ingredients necessary to facilitate a fantastic journey. There are so many ways that you can approach an afterhour set, I don't think there is a certain formula or format that you should use, I think the artist has the freedom to pursue any mood or genre as long as It creates a connection between people.

Sit back and relax! Because a journey awaits you that is made for an afterhour.
