The K.i.D. (King In Distress) is a Pop-R&B singer, songwriter, dancer and performing artist as well as the CEO and founder of Black Rose Records. Born in Charlotte, NC as Titus Prince Jasper on October 29th, 2000 the multi hyphenated artist always had a love for music but never thought or envisioned himself being involved in his early days. As the god son of the nineties and early 2000’s gospel legend John P. Kee, The K.i.D. (King In Distress) grew up in the church and was tremendously inspired by the living legend. But to say that he followed in his godfather's righteous footsteps, and lived a virtuous life would be an error. While most of his fellow Y2K/GEN Z peers listened to rising, chart topping, popular Hip Hop artists at the time of the early 2000's (like 50 Cent, Gucci Mane, Jeezy, Lil Wayne, etc), The K.i.D. (King In Distress) followed a different path. Being inspired by Pop/R&B acts like Chris Brown, Aaliyah, Justin Timberlake, Usher and Michael Jackson. As well as Alternative/Rock bands like Green Day, Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, Breaking Benjamin, etc. To even more modern acts that came out in the late 2010's while The K.i.D. was still a teen, such as Tory Lanez, Kehlani, Lucky Daye, and The Weeknd. 

For the early part of his childhood though, to even well into his adolescent years and early adult life The K.i.D. experienced much hardship. His mother, Tonya D. Jasper, worked two to three jobs just to stay afloat financially. Lacking support from his stepfather Timothy. This caused heavy tension, much discord and strife, and led to several issues. His mother and stepfather regularly engaged in domestic bouts leading The K.i.D. to witness domestic violence first hand at an early age. This would later impact him in a way he couldn't even imagine. His stepfather was also heavily addicted to cocaine, and alcohol. Meanwhile his older sister Naomi R. Jasper and his mother also fought as well. The culmination of these major toxic situations, amongst other smaller ones eventually led Child Protective Services to get involved. Placing him and his sister into the foster care system. 

This led The K.i.D. to the love and care of his adoptive foster father Jeron C. Hawkins. But a sequence of events would lead to seperation, and thus more trauma for the young star. From being in and out of psychiatric wards, to being molested, facing homelessness, and even undergoing mental and physical abuse from his aunt and uncle from the time he was twelve to fifteen years old. To say The K.i.D. had it rough would be an understatement. All of these life experiences however, played a major key part in the Pop-R&B star's overall development. 

By the time he was eighteen years old, The K.i.D. (King In Distress) made the ultimate decision to pursue music. After surviving a turbulent, and traumatic childhood, chaotic adolescent years, rocky relationships of the like, as well as being incarcerated (he was first charged for a felony assault with a deadly weapon in 2018; he was seventeen at the time), to dabbling in the street life (selling narcotic drugs, scamming, and a gang member hangaround). The K.i.D. turned to music and used his ability to sing and dance to break through and make his voice heard! Taking all of his experiences from living in North Carolina, New York & New Jersey, The K.i.D. (King In Distress) on June 5th, 2020 while living in St. Paul, MN at the time of the Goerge Floyd riots released his first major song "DIP" on all streaming platforms. Produced by Ray Beatz and engineered by Jack Vondrachek of MILKK it was a 'Chixtape' style type record that remixed the 2000's R&B hit "You" by Lloyd ft. Lil Wayne. 

Even with the amount of streams it gathered, "DIP" didn't immediately break The K.i.D. into the mainstream, it did receive good reviews and played a major part in his current following. "DIP" alone has gathered well over four hundred thousand streams on Spotify alone! Plus over fifty thousand on Apple Music, over one hundred thousand on SoundCloud, and sixteen thousand views on YouTube. But without a strong personal financial backing, or that of a label or management team, the momentum eventually began to slow down. The following for The K.i.D. (King In Distress) became cult status at best. But this didn't deter the Pop-R&B singer who was determined to make it! 

Now four years later after much needed artist development, soul searching, and surviving yet another incarceration period (he was found guilty on September 6th, 2023 for a domestic dispute between him and his now ex wife Rachel H. Dobyns; he would later be released January 23rd, 2024). The K.i.D. (King In Distress) comes blazing in full glory with the long awaited releases of new music, with a plan to break records and make a mark of his own in the music industry as a Pop icon, self made CEO and record label owner, and cementing himself as the "Prince of Pop-R&B"! The K.i.D. (King In Distress) breaks musical barriers, boundaries and expectations, and plans to redefine the next decade of Pop, Hip Hop, and R&B music through an ambitious widescreen lens.
