TheKnightimeProject welcomes 17 year old Alice Doick to the studio.

Alice approached me on and said she would love to visit the studio to record a couple tracks for her University application.  One of the tracks was this one, 'Sinners' by a British artist called Lauren Aquilina.

However Alice couldn't find an instrumental for it and asked if I could help her out.   I told her I'd listen to the track and do my best - this was the result.

There was only so much I could do with the little time I had as Alice needed the track urgently.  I put together a simple piano bed, supplemented by bass, pad, strings and very basic drums - there's loads more I could have done but I just ran out of time.

I was privilaged that Alice introduce me to Laurens music - she is a truly talented young woman who, I believe, will go far in the music industry.

As for Alice, I was absolutely stunned by her voice - for one so young she did a fantastic job of capturing the raw essence and meaning of the song through her performance - well done.

I wish both Alice and Lauren all the very best for their future careers!

Nothing can beat a real orchestra, but I thought it would be fun to put together a simple piece of orchestral music inspired by a game I play called Rival Kingsoms.

This piece contains piano, full strings, horns, harp, celeste, oboe and even a singing diva!

All in all I was pleased with the results - I hope you enjoy it!

Back in 2010 Lisa and I recorded the track 'I'm In Love' inspired by, of all things, a Pantene ProV commercial!

I thought it would be a nice idea to take her vocals and do something a little different with them, a remix if you will, and this is the result - enjoy!

I was commissioned to film a video and write a backing track for a local company in Worthing called The Loft Co-working.

The client required something 'upbeat', but not 'searing lead or overloud drums', so taking this on board I put together this track form them.  I'm pleased to say they were happy with both the video and the accompanying music!

This was such fun to work on!

Back in 2012 the creators behind Moshi Monsters brought out an album, which I had no choice but to buy as my youngest was really into them!

One of the tracks featured a Justin Bieber type character called Zack Binspin, and my kid used to love singing along to the track 'Moptop Tweenybop (My Hair's Too Long)'.

So, inspired by my kid's love for the track I decided to recreate it!  This track I've never shared before on Youtube, but I'm thinking I'm gonna have to as it still seems like a really popular song for kids all over the world!

I must admit this is a pretty old track - 5 years old to be precise!

A lot has changed in the last 5 years with regards to music production, but I thought it would be nice to share this with you as it forms a part of my learning musical history.

At the time the acapella for this track is easilyavailable via Youtube, but not any more - I'm glad I 'got in' while I could!

The Writer Remix

Back in 2012 I entered a remix competition that Snow Patrol were running for their track Fallen Empires.  They provided all the stems from the original track, and it was up to each entrant to put their own spin on it.  This was my application for that competition.

I wrote this song back in 2010 when it was announced that the TV show 'Heroes' was to be cancelled.  There were a lot of fans of the show out there, and I thought it would be nice to put together clips and write this song as a tribute to it.

In total this took me around 3 weeks to put together and yes, that's me on vocals - enjoy!

Special - Inspired from the TV show 'Heroes'

I recently visited a local open mic session in Worthing, and heard two sisters perform an amazing acoustic set.  One of the sisters, Betsy May, told me about her Soundlcoud page and I though I'd pop over to have a listen to some of her material.  One of the tracks entitled 'With You, Man' captured me straight away!  From fantastic guitar work to haunting vocals, the song imediately stuck in my head, so much so that I decided that insetad of remixing it in the 'traditional way', I'd look to just add some extra programming to it.  The track was played 'live' so I was unable to lock it into tempo.  Instead all the progarmming was performed live, and in one take.  The hardest part was adding shakers as I frequently drifted out of time with the opriginal track, but eventually I got there :)!  Sometimes simplicity is best, so the enhancements are minimal, consisting of a pad, piano, bass, shakers and kick drum - that's all that was needed.
