bugi tager fra Cairo til Kim Larsen. Joalane forsøger at forstå Kim Larsens følsomhed, og Agnete hjælper hende med oversættelsen. De tager på en associations-tur gennem hundrede års spansk guitarmusik, og det udvikler sig til et stævnemøde. Stearinlysene bliver tændt, og mens de hører filmmusik får Joalane freudian slippers på: Hvad er forskellen på faren og faren? Tempoet skifter, spændingen stiger og Joalane taber en tenorsax på gulvet. Agnete samler op på forrige afsnits talefejl og tvinger Joalane til at spille. bugi indfører talebeskeder og får affejet forskellige fordomme.

bugi #5: Et meget roligt program

It’s a mantra, a prayer and a battle cry too. For oppressed bodies in a world designed to kill us, shooting an arrow and moving towards levity and joy is not only an act of resilience – it’s also about resourcefulness. “We always knew”, the poet and rhymer Brother Portrait states as he reflects on his work, his sounds and his movements through, with and back and forth in time. It seems as if we with age come to discover what’s always been there.

This episode is about living, loving, landing and learning from listening. About storytelling and climbing trees, taking leaps; flying. Metaphorically and literally: “Jumping is more than that moment of leaping, it’s also about feeling the force that comes from your feet”. But it’s not only about those brief moments of suspension and feeling weightless in the air. No, like cats and squirrels we too must find lightness in landing.

The combination of power and grace.

A network of listening paths presented by Hildegard Westerkamp at the International Conference of the World Forum of Acoustic Ecology in Corfu, Greece in 2011. 

Acoustic Ecology is the research field created by the World Soundscape Project, an international research project founded by Murray Schafer, at the Simon Fraser University in Vancouver (CA) in the 1960s. As one of the core members of the project, Westerkamp developed her research about attention and listening awareness within soundscapes, and her educational approach through sound walks, field recording and radiophonic works, as well as her long-standing compositional practice.

In this talk she guides through the following questions: 'How can we find focus and balance in such a vast interdisciplinary intercultural field? In a field that has listening as its very core of study, and educational action, and therefore naturally touches on all aspects of life?'

Mix 9 comes from Irish composer Linda Buckley. A beautiful, dark and atmospheric mix fitting for this time of year - 'a halloween nocturnal vibe' in her own words.

Linda Buckley is an Irish composer based in Glasgow who has written extensively for orchestra (BBC Symphony Orchestra, Dresdner Sinfoniker Orchestra, RTE National Symphony Orchestra), and has a particular interest in merging her classical training with the worlds of post punk, folk and ambient electronica. She is “one of the leading figures in the thriving Irish new music scene” (Christopher Fox, Tempo) with her work being described as “sublime and brilliant” (Tom Service, BBC Radio 3) “strange and beautiful” (Richard Dyer, Boston Globe), “fantastically brutal, reminiscent of the glitch music of acts such as Autechre” (Liam Cagney, Composing the Island) and “engaging with an area of experience that new music is generally shy of, which, simplified and reduced to a single word, I’d call ecstasy” (Bob Gilmore, Journal of Music). 

Awards include a Fulbright scholarship to New York University, a Civitella Ranieri Fellowship, the Frankfurt Visual Music Award (for Silk Chroma) and Gold at the New York Festivals Radio Awards (for Mother’s Blood, Sister Songs documentary with Athena Media). 

Recent collaborations include work with experimental folk duo Anna & Elizabeth, poet Doireann Ní Ghríofa as well as premieres by Hebrides Ensemble, Contempo Quartet, Icebreaker, Iarla O’Lionaird, Joby Burgess (Barbican commission), Ensemble Mise-En and Crash Ensemble. In 2019 she was invited by John Schaefer’s New Sounds Live (WNYC) to present the New York premiere of a new live score to the silent horror film Nosferatu (co-composed with Irene Buckley) at Brookfield Place. Linda holds a Music Degree from University College Cork, a Masters in Music and Media Technologies and PhD in Composition from Trinity College Dublin, and lectures in Composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In September 2020 her NMC Debut Disc, From Ocean’s Floor was released.
