This song was inspired by my love of 50’s doo-wop music and classic black-and-white films like Casablanca, where characters share a deep connection but choose not to pursue it for the greater good, all while longing for it internally. I was 19 when I wrote it, at the peak of my introversion, having just left my parental home for the first time and learning to live and function independently. It reflects that internal conflict of desire versus restraint during a pivotal time in my life.
