"The song was written in two halves. I started writing Did You See at a time in my life when I was unable to feel sadness, happiness, joy, excitement, even anger. I was having a really terrible time with no girlfriend, no money and a big debt after a car accident. I had no goals and I had just sort of withdrawn into a hermit life where I stopped calling my family and friends and went long periods of time just staying at home by myself. It was a song ultimately about longing for my heart to wake back up and shake off my cynicism that had taken hold in my life. Good news is this rut didn't last forever; it ended when my aorta ruptured and I underwent open-heart surgery which sort of had the effect of changing my perspective on things a little! I finished the second half of the song after all of that, which I think sort of shows." - Joel.

This is a Neil Young cover. We wanted to give out some new music while we are finishing up our album. We thought a cover would be a good idea and since we both love Harvest Moon we decided to give it a try. It's super intimidating to cover Neil Young so we tried to make it a lot different, just so we didn't have to "compete" with the master.

Patrick Wade, better known as Dead Horse Beats is a producer, singer
and multi-instrumentalist living in Montreal, Canada. Since the
release of his first album in 2011, Wade has garnered attention for
his unique brand of hazy, rhythmic, soul-styled creations, and
energetic live spectacles featuring a slough of live instrumentation,
electronics and guest performers.

After the release 2015's acclaimed Single People LP and a brief stint
with London's Black Butter Records, DHB partnered with Brooklyn based Bastard Jazz Recordings for his premiere vinyl pressing - the Fall 2016 release of Bad Hopes EP.

Bad Hopes is the culmination of a new, fully realized sonic direction
for Dead Horse Beats, inspired by the sounds of the Montreal scene in
which DHB is embedded; equal parts glittering R&B, and undeniable deep house inspired soundscapes, fusing fully on Bad Hopes,

Alongside friends and collaborators Frase (vocals on She Said) and
