Released while on the road in October 2011, this is our second full length studio release.  Recorded and Produced by us, and Mastered by Matt Collen Productions.  This album has a theme of Migrations mixed through all of the songs we chose to record.  Leaving and returning home.  Traveling.  Life and Death.  Love and heartache. A lot of new original material is on this album, as well as some classic old traditional songs.

After a long, rough night sailing on the ocean, this song came to me in the calm of pre-dawn's early light. There is nothing quite so powerful as the sea to remind us of our frailty and humanity. I thought of all the refugees who are fleeing some fate so terrible, that going to sea in some of the most un-seaworthy vessels is the best option. May we always find a place in our heart  and our land for those seeking a better life

The ocean is a cruel match for those who cannot swim.

This track is about travel, life on the road and the many miles where I find myself in a car, especially at this time of year, when the trees turn to sticks against the grey skies, portending winter's arrival. Alone On The Road

Winter can be challenging, with the gathering darkness of days, the longest night of the year. And when loss comes, or is made more poignant by the introspection that the season brings, it can be hard. I wrote this song as I was driving alone to record in the studio, on my first solo tour after the hardest loss of love I had ever felt. And while I didn't feel it at the time, I knew in my head that even the hardest of feelings heal with time, and I had to keep telling myself that, just to get through the days. So this song isn't a sad song. Embrace the calm that comes with winter, and use that time for reflection, and know that there are brighter days ahead. Just keep breathing.

Birds Were Singing Of You

The Littlest Birds is fronted by the roots-forward, banjo-slinging, songstress, Sharon Martinson. In her 7th year of touring, she is recording her 4th album. The Littlest Birds have gained national acclaim as Americana roots musicians with festivals and performances all around the United States and UK, winning 3rd place in the 2105 international banjo hangout contest, and 2nd place at Freshgrass 2015.
