Zurich producer Boaksi’s debut double vinyl LP was released in 2022 to high acclaim. It folds spacious synths, guitars, and layered percussion into quietly arresting compositions. For those who lived through 2000s-era electronica, there’s a welcome nostalgia to its style. While it leans more bedroom-produced than studio-polished, that roughness lends it a kind of intimacy—full of originality, warmth, and quiet invention.

Our Belgian connection runs deep, built on shared moments, mutual admiration, and a steady stream of talent that never seems to dry up. The latest to surface is Ben Kamal: Brussels-based DJ, promoter, and soon-to-be label boss. In recent years, Ben has been a staple in clubs like C12, Fuse, and Funke, as well as festivals like Paradise City and Horst. He’s carved out a sound that’s both precise and personal, equal parts deep, minimal, and melancholic. As a resident of Lola Haro’s Small Steps series and curator of nights at bis.club, he’s been steadily shaping a mood, a narrative, a space. And with the first release on his new label ov guidance about to drop, featuring a.brehme and signall kommt (aka z@p), that space is about to get even more defined.

Listening to the mix Ben made for us feels like watching dusk fold into night in slow motion. The arc is patient, but the details are razor-sharp: fluttering hats, muted basslines, strange shadows between the kick and the silence. There’s movement, but it’s not linear. It loops, it lingers, it pulls you inward. It’s not about big moments, it’s about micro-decisions that add up to something more enduring. Call it dusk-lake energy. Call it perfect for the other side.

Das Milgram-Experiment ist ein erstmals 1961 in New Haven durchgeführtes psychologisches Experiment, das von dem Psychologen Stanley Milgram entwickelt wurde, um die Bereitschaft durchschnittlicher Personen zu testen, autoritären Anweisungen auch dann Folge zu leisten, wenn sie in direktem Widerspruch zu ihrem Gewissen stehen. Der Versuch bestand darin, dass ein „Lehrer“ nach Anweisungen eines „Versuchsleiters“ einem „Schüler“ bei Fehlern elektrische Schläge versetzen und deren Intensität nach jedem weiteren Fehler erhöhen sollte. Sowohl die „Versuchsleiter“ als auch die „Schüler“ waren Schauspieler und die Stromschläge erfolgten nicht real. Dies blieb den eigentlichen Versuchspersonen, den „Lehrern“, jedoch verborgen, so dass sie davon ausgehen mussten, den „Schülern“ echte Schmerzen zuzufügen.
