Immersed in music from a young age, Suze Ijó's path inevitably led her into the world of song and dance. The Rotterdam native found herself drawn to dancing and collecting records; a passion that notched up a level after she became a First Floor member.

A communal hub that used to exist in her home city, the space was designed for music lovers to come together to play, listen and talk, as well as collaborate on private events that are influenced by David Mancuso's infamous Loft parties.

That Loft manifesto feeds into the sounds in her own DJ sets too, whether in the booth or on the waves. From infectious Chicago house to uplifting 80s cuts and warm, soulful grooves; the mood transports you back to the heydays where dance floors were becoming spaces for freedom, self-expression and connection. It's music to bring people together, music to get you moving, and music to lose yourself in.

That's exactly the aim she has in mind with her Shine A Light On mix. A dedicated digger, fuelled all the more by her time spent behind the counter at Clone Records where she worked for three years, Suze dips into her collection to deliver an hour of music that touches on shuffling piano-led house, bouncy broken beat and synthesized 80s funk.

Et puis la magie a disparu, le manque de surprise, la routine, l’envie de découvrir autre chose… Mais c’était souvent une prise distance factice, en passant notre temps à la stalker, voir discretos ce qui se passait de son côté, et en poussant parfois la mauvaise foi jusqu’à la moquer. Who else sounds like Larry Heard? In the late 1980s, The Chicago house producer was one of the first artists – initially as a part of Fingers, Inc., and then as a solo act – to truly stamp their own unique aesthetic onto the nascent style of electronic dance music. Favouring lush instrumentation, foggy chords and dreamy melodies over the more mechanic pounding of many of his counterparts, he inspired the "deeper" sounds of the midwest's second wave, and generations of young clubbers elsewhere around the world.
